NATO seems about to reject Russia's offer of siting a missile shield in an existing Russian bunker close to Iran. The reason being it would be too close to Iran to be effective.
With the same logic and putting yourself in the position of a Russian military planner in the event of a missile strike on the USA would missiles on a submarine close to the target likely to be undetected by a missile shield there?

No, it wouldn't be undetected but as NATO have already pointed out as you say in your question it would be to close to be shot down.

Yes I should have said too close to be shot down rather than detected. The overaul picture I was trying to describe is any possible fault with a missile interceptor so close to the launch pad. Is this such a glaring fault making the missile shield obsolete?
