It surely doesn't matter what the political bent of the DE is - it's only read by three pensioners in Herne Bay.
Sunny Dave....lol !

I heard on the news this morning, that the Pornographer who currently owns the Express was trying to raise some money.

Its obvious what he is doing but much less obvious why the Mirror Group would want to touch the thing with a barge pole ?
ok so long as they don't dumb down the crosswords

I can understand why someone would want buy the Guardian, Times, DM, Mirror, Telegraph, etc, etc.

But why anybody would want to waste good money on the Express is entirely beyond me !
^If you don't read it how do you know it's not worth reading?
It will have an effect on the day-to-day running costs of Althorp if this goes ahead.
They've been harvesting electricity generated by a constantly spinning princess in her grave on the estate these past 20 years.
It'll still be a rag I guess, regardless.
I await the Marxist dialiectic perspective on Princess Di's "murder" and the abduction of Madeline McCann.

Didn't it used to be left wing many years ago?
Seems a sensible purchase to me. Having a large presence in the lower brow tabloid sized newspaper market, why wouldn't you consider buying into the higher brow tabloid market and compete with The Mail ?
OG....are you seriously suggesting that the Express is a
"higher brow tabloid"

Really !
Of course. Which newspapers do you put in that section ?
Besides style can change if the product is roughly placed where you want it.
I see that pesky Amol Rajan is BBC Media editor. Don't tell vernon k ...
The express is a high brow tabloid! Haaaaaa!
I don't think the Express was ever left wing; it used to be owned by Beaverbrook and was all for appeasement.

It hasn't competed with anyone for years. Desmond just bought it because he thought right wingers would buy any old rubbish and sure enough it's been coasting on Maddie McCann and Princess Di for ages. It's got nowhere near the Mail's readership, however.

Desmond's sacked so many staff it's probably got fewer journalists than readers now, but he looks like making a profit on the sale, which is impressive as circulations everywhere are falling. Trinity aren't much cop as owners either.
OG, the Times is a highbrow tabloid and the Guardian will be next year. The Express isn't quite in the same bracket.
Question Author
TBF mikey, OG said "higher" not high and yes the Express is a "Higher" brow tabloid than the daily Mirror.
Well quite, with good reason.

Shows how long it's been since I bought a paper. Thought those two were broadsheets. Gone downmarket then.
How do you becaome a left wing rag??? eh, is this cockney rhyming slang , or just the normal B/S From TGT, again
read between the lines, all papers skewed, read everything then check
if one can be bothered, depends on what your looking for, kim kardashian's butt pic, williams first day at school yawn, o.r politics..
