Perhaps not the correct way to go about it, but is this any different to those who complain there are not enough black actors etc, or there are too many white football managers etc?

How unlike him, he's always been so shy and retiring in the past. ;-)
Lol
If someone is convicted of bashing a woman, and then gets a knighthood, it rather suggests that bashing a woman doesn't matter.
ah the shy and retiring Geoffrey, stuck his big nose in again i see,
Know your audience.
I am not convinced Boycott bashed his girlfriend. It would have been very out of character according to his previous partners.

//He told Birmingham audience knighthoods given to West Indians 'like confetti' //

I honestly off the top of my head can only think of 1 West Indian cricket Knight - Sir Garfield Sobers .

So who are all the rest ?
He was found guilty of assaulting the woman and failed to have that verdict overturned. Whoever is unconvinced of his guilt, he failed to convince the necessary authorities, the French courts.
Well that's Boycott.......love him or hate him, one of the best England openers that there has ever been. He is a character and life needs it's share of characters. I like "boycy", never met him but have seen him play in Test Matches........
He would get on well with the Duke of Edinburgh.

/// So far 11 West Indian cricketers have received knighthoods including sporting icons Sir Viv Richards and Sir Garfield Sobers. ///
Sir Viv Richards
^ that's probably because they were rather good at it
Being a particular body-part does not make you a "character"!
I agree with Squad, one of the great characters of cricket. He was sorely missed when the Beeb wouldn't employ him.
he wasn't wrong in a way, according to my post.
it's down to individual governments whose names get put forward. West Indian countries clearly rate their cricketers more highly than Britain rates Boycott. A question of nationality, not colour, and Boycott's just made an oaf of himself again.

I must say I was surprised by the assault charge - everyone I know said "Boycott strike someone? Forward defensive, surely?" But he had his day in court and lost.
I thought to myself ... he may have a point if Harley any English cricketers were being knighted, so I googled... odd results for 'English cricketers knighted'
//But he had his day in court and lost.//

I hate that saying. Someone used it recently on here referring to the parents of Nicole Brown Simpson. People do get wrongfully convicted and it isn’t always because they didn’t make the most of their 'day in court’. People have been known to lie to get others convicted.
The epitome of a blunt Yorkshireman.
