In the 1980s I was living in Saudi Arabia when there was a fire in a girls primary school. The religious police forced the girls back into the burning building at gunpoint because they had run from the fire without stopping to put their veils on! Many of them were burnt to death!
That is how much women are respected in Saudi , things are very slightly better now but not by much!

I cannot agree with Eddie, totally.
Women are respected in Saudi Arabia, but like other countries some are respected more than others.
Women are restricted, but provided they do not openly flout the laws of the country, by and large are left alone. if they do openly flout the laws as this girl did, then the laws must be seen to be called into force.
