The 1951 convention on refugees must be redrafted so as to state that refugees fleeing for their lives should be given temporary refuge in a specified island/land supported & funded by the intentional community (not gullible rich countries like UK, Germany, Canada, Sweden, etc) until the circumstances (or dispute) of the country they came from are resolved or changed. In that way, only refugee genuinely fleeing for their lives will claim asylum in a third country.

Many asylum seekers (& large extended family members) who claim ‘prosecution & fear of death’ in their own country would inadvertently go on holidays to the country of their origin, after they were given 'indefinite leave to remain in UK; status by the Home Office.

It has also been estimated that 125 million females in Africa (like Gambia, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Somalia, Sudan, Kenya) have undergone female genital mutilation (FGM) or female ‘circumcision’. Education of the society in their homeland, rather than providing asylum should be the remedy in this situation.

Can you please elaborate further?
I will also admit to confusion about this question. Can wholeheartedly agree about homeland education re. FGM

The rest seems to be about migrants and their refusal to obey the rules and intention to exploit the system. A different question.
It is too late, Europe and Britain are on the decline and it cannot be reversed, everything my father and grandfather fought for has been given away. Europe is finished, the great Christian cathedrals, the renaissance, reformation, enlightenment, industrial revolution, the art, music, philosophy, the whole culture is coming to an end, squandered by two irresponsible generations of a cynical spoilt and pampered public, badly served by self-serving political classes.

Question Author
jourdain2,

It is about economic migrants who feel that they have rights to exploit & live in gullible rich countries like UK, Germany, Canada, Sweden, etc.

There isn't any western democratic countries nowadays that have the guts to say that they will not take in refugees (who may not be actually fleeing for their lives due to persecution but are economic migrants) - as respecting 'human rights', following due process/procedures are part of the western legal system.

However, equal distribution of wealth amongst 7 billion population of the world is economically & numerically impossible, hence UK (& other countries) will not be able to cope cannot with millions of economic migrants from all over the world seeking asylum.
Question Author
Khandro,

We have enough immigrants without still continuing to have open door policies to refugees who continue to seek refuge in rich gullible countries for economic (not genuine political) reasons. Enough is enough.

Yes - the renaissance, reformation and the industrial revolution have indeed come to an end...hundreds of years ago.

The Renaissance ended in about 1610.

The Reformation ended in 1688 with the Glorious Revolution.

The Industrial Revolution ended in the 1780s.

Art, music and philosophy are still ongoing.
The Caymen Islands are an Independant state with one of the highest per capita incomes in the world due to an being international banking tax haven.
They do not want or would accept any refugees.
In principle I would agree with you.

In practice I'm not sure we could find an Island anywhere that would not upset the local population.
Willbewhatiwill, The United Nations does not permanently administer any territory.
At present it only administers the small Buffer zones between disputing forces in Cyprus , Syria and Kosovo.
You really need to do some basic research before posting such drivel .

We should re-colonise Africa get rid of the despots and make Africa a continent that is worth living in.
^ Take up 'The White Man's Burden' aog ?

And Willbewhatiwill never said they do, he was just making a suggestion, why do you have to be so rude to fellow ABers, with your "You really need to do some basic research before posting such drivel."

Question Author
EDDIE51,

My basic suggestion is that ANY suitable refuge ISLAND that is run by INTERNATIONAL community is fine - not specifically & necessarily Caymen Islands administered by UN per se.

Better entice (with money) a local population, away from heavy populated mainland UK & Europe to take refuges .

A far away island in the middle of nowhere may take money to accept refugees. Australian asylum applicants (& even successful asylum seekers), for example, are given temporary refuge in Papua New Guinea.
Macron was accused of 'racism' (?) for telling the truth about Africa at the G20;

** And after talking about the need for both private and public investment in Africa to boost health, education and security Macron threw in a sentence that had many dismissing his claim to be a progressive, modern French president.

“When countries like we see today are having seven or eight children per woman, you can decide to spend billions of euros but you will bring no stability,” Macron said.

Some accused the French president of racism.**
There are NO islands 'Run by the International Community'
Papua New Guinea is an Independent State which is paid by the Australian Government to house refugees seeking asylum while their case is decided.
Sorry, I stand by my comment that your post is racist drivel.
Question Author
EDDIE51,

Britain has several Oversees Territory Islands to 'donate'/'sacrifice' for the cause of refugees (rather than 'donating'/'sacrificing' UK mainland).

Ditto for France, Germany, Italy, Greece, Spain, USA, etc, etc.
