Why is no-one talking about heightened military action against IS in Syria? They slaughter our children and we do nothing?

The theat from IS is a worldwide threat. We could destroy thousands of IS fighters in Syria- and probably kill many thousands more non-IS people as colateral damage but it would not destroy the evil thoughts of IS supporters here and all over the world
A confused view, Manchester citizens are massacred, and you think increasing the attack on IS in Syria is the answer?
This is how the hapless Hollande attempted to deal with the carnage in Paris.

I'm not confused, just angry. I think we should the *** out of them. Or would you rather we sing Oasis songs? That should bring them to an early capitulation.
The Manchester bomber and his accomplices were 100% 'homegrown' born here and a full UK citizens.
What good would killing more people in Syria do?
I think Corbyn has it right on this, sending British servicemen to fight 'insurgents' in foreign wars just gives people an excuse to bring the fight here.

EDDIE51, i dont think it would make any difference either way, islamists ultimate end goal is to wipe western ideology, and replace it with an islamic caliphate as according to them the world belongs to allah.
I'm glad I am in my twilight years rather than growing up in such a world where terrorists want to kill us all.
Scooping, you rightly state that you are angry but it is often when emotions are heightened that clear reasoning suffers.

Stepping up activity in Syria is not the answer as others have said.

AGChristie: Point taken but that then is an argument against present military action and for hoping that by doing nothing things will somehow improve. 'They hurt us, we mustn't hurt them in case they do it again' flies in the face of human history.
Not at all. The international military effort continues unabated and IS have suffered significant losses in terms of territory held and key personnel.

However, this enemy will not be beaten by military means alone.

//The Manchester bomber and his accomplices were 100% 'homegrown' born here and a full UK citizens.//

Correct, Eddie. The son of Libyan refugees, I believe.

What difference does it make that they are 'home-grown'. Someone supporting Hitler, or thought to be posing a danger, was interned and, in some cases, executed. Imagine a UK citizen supporting Hitler slaughtering some of our children. They would have been lynched and rightly so. We are at war for goodness sake, just as we were then.
Scooping....with respect, you haven't quite grasped the historical significance in this.

During WW1 and WW2, many thousands of people of non-British descent were interned on the Isle of Man. No evidence was produced that they were in sympathy with Mussolini or Hitler, they were just foreign.

Just plain wrong Mikey. Oswald Mosley was interned in the Tower and others were executeasd. People who pose a real danger, either by their actions or by their association with people who mean to do us harm, should be interned, albeit in as humanitarian way as thought appropriate. This has got nothing to do with interning people because of their nationality or roots - as happened in WW2. I grasp the historical significance very well thank you.
