There are distinct rumours that Mrs May is thinking of ditching the triple lock on pensions, as well as ditching the 2015 Tory manifesto pledge not to raise income tax, national insurance or VAT.

So, we could be looking at a future Tory government, where the value of your pension will go down, at the same time as taxes go up.

Vote Tory...get a double whammy !

Khandro....UKIP will never win an Election, that is why the a vote for them is wasted.

Some people argued before 23/06/2016, that a vote for UKIP had some kind of legitimacy. Not by me, I should add. But now that we are on our way out of the EU, UKIP no longer has any purpose. You might as well vote Green....at least the Greens have an MP in Parliament.

A vote for UKIP is like peeing yourself while wearing dark trousers ....it gives you a warm feeling but nobody else notices, or cares.

Its entirely a self-indulgent act.
mikey; //.UKIP will never win an Election, that is why the a vote for them is wasted.//
I could say the same for you voting Labour in the forthcoming one. :0)
"Some people argued before 23/06/2016, that a vote for UKIP had some kind of legitimacy. Not by me,..."

So votes for people or parties with whom you disagree are illegitimate?
Bit of a leap there NJ. Mikey is expressing a personal opinion and has posted several comments as to his reasoning behind thinking that a vote for UKIP is a complete waste.

Khandro....If the Tories win in June, Labour will be the official opposition. Not only will UKIP never win an Election, they will never be the official opposition either, and if they continue to get no seats in Parliament, then they won't even be any kind of opposition.

NJ....you are far too educated and intelligent to believe what you posted at 12:43. ALL votes are legitimate but if people vote for a Party that doesn't have a snowballs chance in hell of even getting 1 seat, let alone winning, then that vote is wasted, IMHO !
There's a difference between "wasted" and "illegitimate", Mikey. That's what I was questioning.

Even "wasted" is not really a reasonable description. That being the case nobody in leafy Surrey should vote Labour. Nobody on Tyneside should vote Tory. In fact, in most constituencies there would be no need for a poll at all.
Even in light of Brexit NJ? There's a theoretical chance that TM could win 58 more seats due to Corbyns dire ratings and risk of him making even more of a mess of leaving.

these are only rumours at present.
Bit more than roumours emmie
I'm not advocating that polls should be unnecessary, Zacs. I don't believe any vote is wasted. I'm simply trying to come to terms with Mikey's contention that if you vote for a candidate whom you believe has no chance of winning then your vote is somehow "wasted". With that belief there would be a need for far fewer polls. Simply look at what happened last time (or the last few times or whatever you consider appropriate) and if you think it isn't going to change then don't bother!
I think there's a big difference between a candidate or party whom you 'believe' to have no chance and one which is clearly an ex parrot.

There is only one reason that Mrs May has called this unnecessary election, and that is to gain more seats from Labour.

If she thought the result would be less seats, or the same seats as now, she wouldn't have held that Party Political Broadcast on behalf of the Tory Party in front of Number Ten earlier this week.

For the record, I don't expect Labour to win, anymore than anyone else of here.
I take it you won't be voting then Mikey?
//For the record, I don't expect Labour to win, anymore than anyone else of here. //

not one of the party faithful then? they beg to differ.....

Zacs...yes, of curse I will be voting...what a stupid question to ask !

My constituency went Tory in 2016, for the 1st time in over 100 years, but with a majority of just 16. I shall be doing all I can to see that it returns to Labour on June 8th.
mikey, I think one of the reasons for the election is to give May a mandate of her own, so that if necessary she can face down the hard-Brexiters in her own party.

And it's no good Labour being an "opposition" party if they can't be bothered opposing anything. They're stuck with a Brexit leader who's so far given his backing to everything May's done.
Ok Mikey, my bad. I could have sworn that, on another thread, you said that voting for a party which had no chance of winning was a wasted vote. Must be wrong.
Question Author
Zacs....yes you are wrong ! In my constituency, there is everything to fight for, and that is what I intend to do !
So maybe people who vote for UKIP are trying to do the same rather than wasting a vote?
Question Author
Zacs....what UKIP seat is there in Britain, that was lost at the last Election, that voting UKIP in June could bring back ?

( apart from Clacton, and Rochester and Strood, that is )
