I partly agree with TTT. I think anyone responsible for electing a member off the government should have some experience of life as an adult.

after all as they said you can have a child legally age 16, join the army, drink at home, so why not the vote.
I don't see why not.
The legal age for drinking is 5.
I can't see why not either !
Yes, a good idea.
Question Author
given how many young adults there are in this age bracket, and if they had the vote now, i could see Labour doing better than predicted, seeing how it seems that they have a vested interest in their own futures and may well be more left leaning.
Question Author
i know you can drink at 5 but not in a pub you have to be 18.
Why not? 15 to 65 seems a fair range to me.
Question Author
so you can't vote after 65, that seems harsh.
You can drink in a pub if you're having a meal.

Anyway - young people who are not clued up on politics probably wouldn't vote.
no, it would never be a good idea, frankly it should be raised to 21 in my opinion.
There are lots of much older people that are not clued up on politics as well Ummm !
TTT....why 21 ?
Question Author
how many people are truly clued up about politics, at whatever age, it seems that many go on personalities than policies.
The legal age for joining the army is 18 not 16.16 year old's can enter an Army Apprentice School
I'm not clued up so I don't vote. My 18 year old is.

i stand corrected, but i seem to recall a friend telling me he joined the army age 16.

well think of a number mikey, but personally I think that society is maturing ever later and at 30 most of them can't wipe their own jacksy, I chose 21 to be conservative (with a small c) but in reality it's an arbitrary figure. Most people I meet these days are obsessed with soaps and facetwit, I would trust them to make a cup of tea. I'm so glad my tenure on this planet is closer to the end than the beginning.I have no confidence in the generation coming through and yes that includes my own kids.
Emmie, It is I who stand corrected.Thing have changed since my day.
