Which bit......?
Well you have just brought it to our attention AOG.?

Cressida is a lesbian? NOOO!
Well that IS a surprise.
In an ideal world it wouldn’t matter, no one would give a damn. In the real world, if she doesn’t make sure its out there then she risks “Met Chief Conceals She Is Gay” type headlines from the gutter press.
Two things:

Firstly, we don’t need to know about Ms Dick’s personal arrangements. Whoever she decides to take up with and what sort of relationship it she is in is entirely a matter for her. Quite why she needs to tell everybody is a mystery. But since she’s mentioned it she might like to consider whether her relationship is very wise. Imagine at annual appraisement time her partner’s Chief Inspector considering giving her a bad report. Is he going to be influenced by the fact that his subordinate will be getting into bed with the police commissioner that night?

Secondly, the police force does not have to represent the community it serves. If it did, it would have among its number a smattering of burglars, rapists, child molesters, fraudsters, murderers and illegal immigrants. Its function is the prevention and detection of crime. Quite who does that simply depends on their ability to feel collars, not whether they are black or white or whether they bowl from the gasworks end or have had their genitals reorganised.
It's not a mystery, NJ....Woof has explained why....and of course she shouldn't have to mention it at all.....but we only have to look at some of the comments we get on AB to see why she's said it.
No reporters scavenging in her bins......no photographers following her on a night out to see who she's with......
She's said enough to prevent that and will leave it there now.....

Taking a £40,000 pay cut could of course have been what AOG meant and we're jumping to conclusions............ ;-)

Don't you think it will encourage them more?
Ahhh.....so it was *that* bit, then...
Encourage who/ what more ?
No, AOG......she's said enough to stop them grubbing around....what else would anyone think we need to know?

AOG, who is 'them'?
Given her proclivities a surname like Dick is somewhat unfortunate.
Jackdaw, you posts are frequently blunt through to utterly tasteless. Your post here is certainly near to the latter of my view point.
Haha, good one Jack.
Surely reducing the crime rate should be at the heart of her role, not right-on divesity?
Young...what did she say would be at the centre of her role?
Jam?

*** Britain's new top cop said diversity is at the heart of her new role with the Met ***

//His macho ‘total policing’ motto has been dropped from the force’s website.//

To be replaced by what kind of policing? Fractional, partial, episodic?
Yes, I read that, AOG.....I also read what she said would be at the....centre....of her role.

I was asking Young if he had read that....
