Khan makes no mention of immigrants and he is preparing for 1.5 million moving to London again not mention of these 1.5 million being immigrants it appears the news paper has jumped to this conclusion.
As London is the nations capital and most big business has its UK headquarters in London it stands to reason that London will always increase its population.
Doesn't the admission that he expects the population of London to grow show he is failing in his job ?

One needs to tackle pollution by reducing the number of folk who will inevitably be polluting.

Other things may be outside his remit. Getting legislation through to ensure new vehicles are cleaner running, controlling population in the UK generally, ensuring jobs are more evenly distributed throughout the UK, etc. for instance.

/// Khan makes no mention of immigrants and he is preparing for 1.5 million moving to London again not mention of these 1.5 million being immigrants ///

And do you really think that Khan would mention immigrants?

*** London is currently crippled by a lack of infrastructure while the Government is now paying illegal immigrants up to £2,000 each to go home. ****

And do you think that all these expected 1.5 million moving into London are our own, who have just decided to move to London?

*** More than five million people have moved to Britain in 10 years with immigration figures showing that more than 66 million people live in the country. ***
At the 2011 census, 36.7% of London's population was foreign born (including 24.5% born outside of Europe). With 3,082,000 residents born abroad in 2014. London has the largest population number (not percentage) of foreign-born.
London would collapse overnight if it wasn't for non-British-born workers, as even a cursory visit to any hotel, cafe, restaurant will attest.
firstly he is Mayor of London not the London Mayor
and his prediction of 1.5m more people piling into London does make me wonder when its all going to stop. We are already an overcrowded place and more to comes makes me wonder how anyone is going to afford to live here.
I had a flyer put through the door about a property in Kings Cross, it didn't look anything spectacular but the asking price was 1 million 3 hundred and fifty thousand quid, now who can afford that.
As to more immigrants we have enough already, its time to stop the economic ones bunking in on the back of lorries and getting here only to find London streets are not paved with gold only more and more bodies.
Lol.....
It's only 'appalling' if you immediately associate an increase in population with an 'influx' of foreigners/immigrants.........which appears to be the case on AB.
Don't be stupid.

Khan is not in charge of immigration, the Conservative Government are.

Once people come to this country, they can settle where they want, not where the London mayor says so.

London has always had the highest population native or immigrant! Some are reading into this 'article' to find information that is not there!

Cheap labour is the reason, British workers cannot afford to work for those meagre wages, you as a staunch Labour man should be against the exploitation of the working man.

Makes one wonder though how we managed to exist prior to Labour's mass immigration programme and their multiculturalism dream.
this is nonsense. It's not his plan. The government controls immigration from abroad; plus much of it is people relocating within Britain, and Londoners having babies. London's only just regained the population it had before the war. Moreover, people move out almost as fast as they move in

The job of the mayor of London is to manage it. And that's what he's doing. If you think it's all appalling, tell May.
AOG...all the hospitality workers in London are paid the same wages as everybody else. Who will do these jobs if the non-Brit-born people can't ?

Why do all those lazy people that live on my housing estate still continue to claim benefits, when the eastern Europeans seem to have no difficulty in finding local jobs ?
more people equals more homes equals more school places, and NHS aid which is already under the cosh, where does anyone suppose these are going to come from.
Many, indeed most can't afford to live here as it is, more bods equals pressure on everything.
' it stands to reason that London will always increase its population.'

" London's only just regained the population it had before the war. "

Can't you people coordinate your 'facts' any better? ;-)
speaking of co-ordinating: it seems mikey is wrong because (a) it's outrageous to say Brits can't make coffee (samjenko) or (b) Brits can't make coffee because they can't live on low wages (aog).

In reality, Brits can make coffee, they just prefer their servants to do it for them..
sam that may well be so however we didn't have the NHS in war time, now we do and its free at point of entry. If people are flooding in how can the services that are needed as i said before cope.

It is because you lot encourage them, each time the Tories try to cut their benefits etc to encourage them back to work, Labour kick off about it.
aog
not all on benefits are scroungers.
