It seems nearly all of them are liberal lefties, why is that? Is it because they are usually wealthy so they feel guilty and feel they think it shows their caring credentials?

Perhaps they have had a better education?
Nah lot have never heard of planet earth ,building site for a about ten years during the cold frosty weather and the male folk the coal face . I'm all heart ain't I .
A better education? Hahahahahaha, my sides are splitting.

Yet again for some reason some seem to think that anyone who does not agree with the leftist view is thick.
All part and parcel of the LGBT thinking.
Can you imagine the Arts if it was dominated by Trump, Putin and Le Pen.
Arron Banks financing the RSC
Farage starring as Oberon in 'A Midsummer Night's Brexit'

I am confused - how does minority sexuality come into artistic thought?
I have a feeling you shouldn't have asked that ...
Could be a long day.
You could apply the question 'Why are so many..' to a lot of scenarios. There will also be so many who aren't lefties.

dave50 - for every 'wealthy' artist or musician, there are literally millions who are not wealthy at all, but pursue their art because it is their passion.

Apart from those who inherit, the wealth they have is generated by their success, they don't start off with it.

But they do start off with a social conscience, an awareness of other people less fortunate, a sense of compassion, and an ability to understand that many people are not able to own their own businesses, and may need some help and support.

If you have that mind-set - and the majority of creative people do, then the left-wing attitude to these things is the one that chimes with they way they think - and that is why most of them are politically socialist in outlook.
because they can afford to be. It's easy to be a lefty when you have a few quid in the bin. They don't have to live on the ground in the effluent they would create if they had any power.

Well being more in contact with the music industry than I am, I can only speak from what I see and read of the Arts which of course includes actors etc in the entertainments industry.

I would suggest that people's politics are formed by their experience, not their bank balance.

As I have said - 99% of artists and musicians have created their own wealth, which, in theory, should make them Conservatives, according to Mrs Thatcher's edicts anyway.

But oddly, having begun as socialists, they remain socialists because that is their mind-set, and it remains unaltered by the addition of wealth.
What on earth are you basing this assumption on dave ?

Very few people involved in the Arts could be described as wealthy.......rates of pay for actors and dancers, for instance are not in any way generous.

To be frank, this is the kind of post that I expect from someone like AOG, not you !
I never knew that ones sexuality defined their political leanings!

You have a remarkably skewed view of the world AOG.

The with my contact in the music - and wider - entertainment industry, as you point out AOG, I am delighted to confirm that your sexual stereotyping belongs in the 1950's, and times have moved on.

It's actually not a pre-requisite to possess a minority sexual orientation in order to be admitted into the arts forum - whatever The Daily Mail tries to say!!
AOG....did you think very hard before your posted that at 12:46 !
mikey - In AOG's defence, I think we must accept that being a senior member of an earlier generation, he is not necessarily fully aware of the fact that hostile stereotyping of the sort that 'theatrical types' used to have to endure, has largely died out in modern society.
Andy....I think it was an extraordinary error to link the arts and LGBT, and it can't all be put down to the ignorance of old age.

Its 2017, not 1957 for goodness sake !
/// It's actually not a pre-requisite to possess a minority sexual orientation in order to be admitted into the arts forum - whatever The Daily Mail tries to say!! ///

I have never said this, or your inference that the Daily Mail has somehow brain washed me into that sort of thinking, neither has it to do with my advanced age.

Just read about certain celebrity stars in any of the various sources of the media, and although it would be stupid to state (and which I never have) that all persons in the various arts come under the LBGT category, a very large percentages do.

I am not prepared at this stage to name any except to say one is in the habit of wearing a pink beret, and we all know what minority sexual orientation he belongs to and the side of politics he follows.
