Well done the police although no doubt the usual suspects will come out of the woodwork to play the race card and saying he was such a nice bloke and never hurt anyone and the police picked on him because he was Asian blah blah blah.

Too late.
And I didn't see any of the usual suspects come out of the woodwork to play the race card.

I do think there is still some millage in this story though.
Such a shame because we obviously need more 'devoted family men' like him.....
No-one in their right mind would try and paint Mr Yaqub as a decent upstanding citizen, but two children are without their father, and no doubt utterly unaware of what he was like outside his home - and that is a tragedy however you paint it.
Going on his lifestyle alone I'd hazard a guess his children are in less danger than they might have been if caught up in a drug feud.
The tragedy lies in his portrayal as a pillar of society.
I think in this case the two children are far better off Andy.

Either they would have been targeted by Mr Yaqub's opponents or worse been used by Mr Yaqub to further the family business and undoubtedly wound up dead or in Jail, or both.

Perhaps there is now hope for them?
Ah, see you posted similar while I was typing away!
ChillDoubt - //The tragedy lies in his portrayal as a pillar of society. //

That is simple human nature, you will never change that.

Loved ones and close friends of anyone will never see, much less acknowledge that their loved one / close friend is actually a drug-selling psychopath - it's simply not how they see them.

Similarly - no individual looks in the mirror and sees an evil person staring back, it's not the way we are wired.

"I don't understand, all I ever wanted to do was give people a good time ..."

That quote could easily have come from the lips of someone like Bruce Forsyth or Ronnie Corbett, but it was actually said by Al Capone.

I think you make a valid point - in the future they may well appreciate this turn in their lives, but they need to go through a mountain of grief first, and that has to be a sad thing.
you plays the game ..you take the consequences !!
Society will undoubtedly be better off without this nasty piece of work

... but ...

"no body cameras" on a "pre-planned operation" - that seems very stupid as it gives the rabble protesting about this an open goal.
I'm pretty sure the rabble would protest whatever and camera evidence would probably incite them more, when / if it eventually surface. I think we're being smokescreened for very good reason.
Apparently most of West Yorkshire police have body cams but armed officers don't.
well they haven't stopped whining about the last lowlife drug dealer plod dispatched so I guess this one will go on the to do list dave!

I know it's downright inconvenient, but we live in a society where the shooting of a citizen (low life drug dealer or not) tends not to go unnoticed, and unquestioned.

It's just one of those annoying prices we pay for living in a civilised society.

There was an item on the news last night where they were interviewing people in Bradford about it. Some of them were wearing masks to conceal their identity, why? One said that the police shot "one of our brothers". What an idiot, what does he mean "one of our brothers"? Of course the police are now consulting with 'community leaders'. How come I haven't got a 'community leader'?

//“Firearms officers do not currently use them, however, we are seeking a separate solution to meet the specific and specialised requirements of their role.”//

Dave, //One said that the police shot "one of our brothers". What an idiot, what does he mean "one of our brothers"? //

Maybe he's a member of the criminal fraternity too.

I haven't seen the clip, but would suggest that maybe the interviewee is from the same ethnic group?

It has long been common for African-American men to refer to each other as 'brothers' - maybe that has extended to people of Asian extraction.
Given his name it is reasonable to assume that he belongs to the peaceful, law-abiding religion.
