Do you mean "safe in our hands in it's form today" OR do you mean an NHS which provides health care to the needy.

I believe you mean the former........knowing your Politics ;-)

I have been "banging on" for years on AB, and for longer before that momentous occasion expressing my and others, belief that the NHS is hemorrhaging tax payers money for the past 3 decades at least. Decades that have involved Tory rule and Labour administration.

It cannot go on in it's present form funded solely by the tax payer....you and me.

It is a Political pawn worshipped by both parties for different reasons and that is the problem with state controlled medicine.....in my opinion.

It has to change and it will change.
Written by Sarah Bloch Budzier of the....... BBC (me neither) and lifted from "draft" plans! Into the generated fray steps Laura Townsend... of campaign group 38 Degrees. (I thought there was only 3 of them , but hell overstaffing is the norm) Meanwhile a N.H.S spokesman says.
// "Proposals are at a draft stage but we expect all local leaders to be talking to the public and stakeholders regularly - it is vital that people are able to shape the future of their local services.
"No changes to the services people currently receive will be made without local engagement and, where required, consultation."//

They do like to cause a problem as quickly as possible do they not. Keeps em in "work" you see.

Morning Sqad and welcome back !

I appreciate that there have to be changes. But I can't recall the Tories ever telling us, just prior to the 2015 General Election, that in a years time, there will have to be cuts to funding, and that is my point.

I maintain, that if the Tories had come clean last year, they may not have won the Election, or if they did, their majority would be even smaller than it is now.

I agree entirely, but if you are going to enforce your Political ideas on the electorate, then you must get into Government.........Politics is a dirty business whichever party you support.

Thanks for the welcome...;-)

Sqad....probably correct, but if these cuts go ahead, and I can't see any reason why they won't, the Tories will never live it down.
mikey...So what? I agree entirely, but the Tories know full well that rightly or wrongly there are no "Brownie Points " in the NHS for them.

Labour lose because of the Economy.
Tories lose because of the NHS.

Both parties know that and have done since 1948.
Never mind, there's all that money we were promised as soon as we leave the EU :-)
Question Author
Ah yes....I forgot about that ichkeria !
Mikey, you, like ichkeria, have also forgotten that it wasn't a promise because the people who suggested it weren't in a position to make such a promise .... but let's not go down that overly-trodden route with the hard of understanding again.
The NHS is over funded for what is needed to be delivered.

We need a return to the basics for the NHS, a life saving service for UK Nationals not the world run efficiently not by left leaning right-on managers who could not manage their way out of a wet paper bag.

If we do that the NHS may survive, if we dont it wont.
Another Howler from Cons.
Why is it a howler? Please do explain.
Thank you for the reply to my reflections. Plus of course I fail to see why mikey would be so concerned about the NHS in England, he is of course living in Wales where the "Trusts" are a paragon of efficiency and good practice, in fact a model for the whole of the UK. Not.
and we all know how the likes of mikey and his circus party would fund things...spend spend spend spend spend...until theres nothing left....its the only way those mugs know

but he'll always blame the torys...hes not intelligent enough to actually understand let alone see what the NHS problems are and where they lie...just keep on spending no matter what

For Funks Sake!!!
The NHS had hardly any problems before it became the WHS.
No - but then, I never ever did!
