Personally I think the comparison with Maxwell has some merit.

I'd love to see it go to court...always hated that smug Fields
No, he's a greedy nasty piece of work.

Everyone should boycott his shops (Burton, Dorothy Perkins, Top Shop to name just three)
Field has said he won't apologise so the question seems to be redundant. If he's really aggrieved he'll have to instruct his barrister.
I'm glad that someone has brought up the BHS issue.

There has now been a Report published by both Committees ::

https://www.parliament.uk/business/committees/committees-a-z/commons-select/work-and-pensions-committee/news-parliament-2015/bhs-report-published-16-17/

Here are the main conclusions ::::

Its quite clear that Green was at fault right from the beginning.

He systematically extracted hundreds of millions of pounds from BHS, paying very little tax, and fantastically enriching himself and his family, leaving the Company and its pension fund weakened to the point of the inevitable collapse of both.

In 2000. Green bought the business with a £43m surplus in its pension scheme and paid his family dividends far in excess of BHS's profits.

In 2015, having failed to fund the schemes adequately or complete a restructuring to the satisfaction or the Regulator, he sold BHS with a £345m pension shortfall. He sold the business to Dominic Chappell, twice bankrupt and wholly out of his depth.

I can't see that Frank Field has anything to apologise for.

Green should pay up and shut up.

Green should pay up and shut up.

Why, he has done nothing illegal
I've always found Frank Field speaks a lot of sense and I haven't changed my mind here.
I'd find it very difficult to justify what Green did and I would like to see him address a group of BHS workers/pension scheme members and try to convince them what he did was not morally wrong even if it may not have been illegal
If by an apology you mean horse whipping then yes, he deserves an apology
Instead of attacking the likes of Green (who I do dislike btw) why dont you attack the politicians (of all sides) that have allowed these situations to be legal?

Attack the cause not the symptom if you want to fix it.
Just because something is not illegal doesn't mean it's okay, in my book. But I agree the apology should extend to come from those who were complicit- auditors etc- and those who oversee these things
I think the sooner we separate the pension funds from company control the safer it will be for all employees.
I had thought, after Maxwell topped himself, that they were supposed to be separated?
There needs to be some sort of escrow system in place
Green didn't steal from pension funds; and instead of jumping off a yacht he's just bought a new one to relax on. But yes, both had the business ethics of a louse; and I can't see Green getting very far if he tries to take this one to court..
According to Sir Philip's legal counsel - //Clearly an allegation that our client is a thief is likely to cause him serious harm.//

I think it's probably a bit late to worry about his reputation now!
I`ve seen several interviews where they said he did massage the pension funds as if they were his own to use - when I find a link I`ll post it.
If I was an Arcadia employee I would be very worried about my pension.
