Question seems a little misleading as these aren't formal negotiations but just a meeting or series of meetings, and there should hardly be anything wrong with that.

She's just trying to rekindle the Auld Alliance.
She's having some meetings, hardly a major threat to brexit.
Even more evidence ( if any was needed) that Scotland will leave the UK and join the EU on its own or as a partnership with Northern Ireland and Wales (yes, I do know Wales narrowly voted 'leave', but the offer of a few £ billion in development funds may well change a few minds!)
I fully expect to see the end of the UK due to 'Brexit' !
So be it, then (shrugs shoulders).
As to " be allowed"" who would stop these meetings AOG ?

Wales have already been highly gifted with EU development funds!! Didn't stop them showing where their loyalty lies though did it.?
She is assuming that the Scots who voted to exit the union would also do do in an independent Scotland. It is quite an assumption on her part. I am a little biased - she annoys me for some reason.

//It is understood she will discuss whether Scotland can retain its EU status while part of the UK or if independence would be required. If so, she is expected to explore whether any special arrangement could be made so Scotland would not have to apply for membership from the outside.//

If she gets her way, she'll probably need to negotiate special arrangements in other areas too - which, in the circumstances, could prove difficult.
RETROCOP exactly my point, once they realise what they will lose a few more voters will be inclined to support joining the EU as a separate entity from England.
( did you see my question to you on the 'police series' thread by the way?)
Any one know what credit rating Scotland would have if it wished to apply to join the EU? Seeing as we have now been down- rated ourselves would Scotland be so welcome to the club? I assume they can longer declare the Barnett formula an asset in the next two years if they leave us.
EDDIE51 No. Will look later.
If (and it's a big if) Scotland could stay in the EU, I think we Scots would have to have the Euro and not Sterling

As for a credit rating, maybe a point or two higher than Greece, or Portugal or Spain or Italy?

Could lead to a major threat to the UK though.
Could lead to a major threat to the UK though. How's that then AOG ?
The possibility of the break-up of the UK worries me not a whit.
Eddie, //yes, I do know Wales narrowly voted 'leave', but the offer of a few £ billion in development funds may well change a few minds!) //

Do you mean that Wales would happily part with a good deal of money in order to get a bit of it back? That doesn't seem an entirely sensible thing to do.
Why not?
Exactly jackdaw, and that is the sentiment often expressed in AB .
anneasquith, would you not be happy with that?
