I've known for a long time that there is a large anti-EU feeling in France. Marine Le Pen is committed to Frexit, is riding high in polls and votes - and could win next year's election or hold the balance of power. Holland wants out, definitely.

Switzerland and Iceland have both cancelled their applications for membership recently, with a Swiss minister saying "Only an idiot would join the EU now." I am desperate for these facts to be blazened all over the media.
Yournewswire.com is a Russian propaganda site, and is also bonkers.

A thought that occured to me recently is that if we stay in the EU and other countries have referendums and come out, the EU will want a greater proportion of our money.
There have been polls that have shown France is less in favour of the EU than the UK.

I am well aware of that Gromit, that wasn't my question though.
Switzerland suspended their own application in 1992. A referendum in 2001 effectively killed any notion of them ever joining when the people voted No by 78%. The withdrawal of the application recently was more of a courtesy than a change of mind.

Iceland had a change of Government in 2013, and the new Foreign Minister wrote to the EU saying they were withdrawing their application. But nothing has happened since then, and there has not been a vote in the Icelandic Parliament to officially withdraw.
France will never leave the EU, it is their baby.

Holland easily could.
You mean the French citizens will not be allowed a choice on whether to leave the EU.
A lifelong friend of mine (60 yrs) was discussing the referendum with his Dutch dentist. The dentist said all the people he knows back in the Netherlands are hoping and praying we take the lead and Brexit. They are desperate to follow our lead if OUT succeeds. I have read in the media that the Swedes are of a similar mind and would push for their own referendum also.It would appear that many cracks are forming in the older EU states and the whole rotten project could easily crumble especially without their cash cows.
Britain once again must show the courage and fortitude to free Europe from the undemocratic yoke of totalitarianism. When we make our defiant stand the whole of Europe will swing behind us and banish the EUSSR pyramid scheme to the dustbin of history.
When others want ‘out’ too, I wonder what is so wonderful about being ‘in’.
Most other nations voted to join and therefore have to live with their decision.

The UK was never asked, consulted or voted in favour before the Conservatives took us in. That is the difference.

Opinion in 1973 was fairly evenly divided, and 43 years later, not much has changed.
Gromit, //Most other nations voted to join and therefore have to live with their decision. //

Do they? Perhaps their people are seeing the light just as we are.
Huge public opinion in Italy to leave.
It is pure fantasy that The french want to leave. There is a queue to join, not a queue to leave.
Guess where the queue to join starts.
^Yes.... guess.
Gromit; If it's accurate, 40% is pretty huge wouldn't you say?
