Only the third woman ever to receive a whole life tariff.

Given the recent European ruling in favour of Anders Breivik, does Dennehy have a case to feel aggrieved?

I think Norway's taxpayers have more of a case to feel aggrieved.
The victims of both of these 'people' have more reason to feel aggrieved.
The ruling in favour of Anders Breivik was not a European ruling. It was made by a Norwegian court.
No.

Cases and appeals are decided on their individual merits.

The notion that another prisoner received different treatment is - in this instance - invalid.

The Chair - I can see my ambiguity, I meant European as in the decision made by a court in Norway :o)

AH > Cases and appeals are decided on their individual merits.

Indeed they are but in terms of segregation for long periods is there, in fact, little difference?
you should read the judgement.

it seems that her "segregation" to autumn 2015 was indeed unlawful.
No, she has no right whatsoever. Let her rot in jail.

There is no connection whatsoever between Breivik and this case.
Rest assured there are enough misguided and gullible sorts around to ensure she's never completely alone.
She could fill her time with studying alternative uses for bedsheets and stout, high fixtures, specifically their use when there are no staff around.
mushroom - thank you for attaching the judgement, and I stand corrected - it does appear that the segregation was unlawful.

Cheers Mush, I wondered who may spot that!

Your post does not address the Question which AG raised - it merely points to your assertion that the prisoner should take her own life - facilities for which to do so are not within the remit of the justice system.

Mikey > There is no connection whatsoever between Breivik and this case

Not even the issue of segregation, prison treatment, human rights?

(Not defending her before anyone asks but asking!)
Thanks for clearing that up Andy.
I`d like to see those who subvert others human rights lose their access to those same rights other than the basics.
agchtistie.....yes, you are correct in that but the same could be said about the reason why both are in prison......ie they are both convicted murderers.

What I meant was that the court decisions are not linked....yet. There might be if her lawyers manage to get this to the European Court, but there is little sign of that happening at the present time.
Question Author
Mikey, yes, I see what you mean.

I wouldn't rule out this one ending up in the ECHR!
But if it does agc....I doubt if it will win a victory for her.
Question Author
Mikey, very little surprises me these days!
agc....as I understand it, this ruling says that while her segregation was lawful, she is not due any compensation. Its isn't about whether her whole-life sentence is fair or not.
