Didn't see the Prog. have read the link,
It appears to have attracted a lot of people who just can't wait to be offended on behalf of others.
Yes it is true, the truth hurts and some would wish such things as this to be swept under the carpet.

This reader's view says it all.

/// So it's okay for black people to complain that white people are getting all the Oscars, but not okay for white people to complain about their towns being flooded by immigrants. Double standards as always when it comes to racism. Well done BBC for airing this, whilst probably knowing that the militant racial equality groups would be frothing at the mouth (again). ///

I couldn't see anything racist about it, it was a documentary that showed some inconvenient truths, that's all.
I thought all it showed was that younger people move on now ather than liviing near family all the time, and times have changed. The influx of imigrants is hardly to blame for the fact the local men's social club's are not well attended and that the population has aged!

It is not racist at all, it is simply a truth some want to hide.

But then the left love a good old chant of 'Racist'.

For once, well done the BBC for not bowing to right-on politics
This programme was a fair and true representation of what East London is like but it didn't go far enough in my opinion.
They forgot to mention that Newham has the highest rate of TB cases in the country. A condition that was eradicated but now is on the increase.
And causing more stain on an already stretched NHS (sorry (WHS)
//For once, well done the BBC for not bowing to right-on politics//

No but it was shown at midnight and not advertised at all.
I wonder what the diversity industry will make of this man?

//Speaking on the documentary, he said: 'I do often think if my childhood friends were around right now they would say, 'He's more British than us. He's more proud of being an East Ender than us.'
'Everything this area stood for is being eradicated slowly but surely,' says this proud, sad fifth generation East Ender. 'In ten years' time, there'll be absolutely no trace of Cockney culture.'
Things used to be different, he says. 'I miss those days when everyone knew everyone.' Now his children are growing up with little knowledge of 'the British way of life'. These days, he says, some schools are more like 'Africa or Romania'//

There are some multi-generation immigrants who feel like they are East Enders, like Usman Hussain, whose family moved to East London from Bangladesh in the 1930s.

Mr Hussain is a fifth-generation Londoner who said he was pleased to see more Muslims in the area but, at the same time, misses the white friends he knew when he was young.

I have it recorded will watch it later.
Question Author
I have looked on Google street map at the 2 places I used to live when growing up in Old Trafford and Stretford, Manchester.

As the Google camera car drove around the local different roads & streets, many people were photographed, and 95% were of Asian, African, Arab or other races.

Moved away when I was in my 20s, thank goodness.
I watched this and thought it was true and sad. Folks weren't being racist but wanted their Little England to be England.
I thought the Asian guy was a little hypocritial as he wanted both worlds.
ok watched it, no isms I could see. Largely true account of what has happened in that area as far as I can tell. The rest of Londonistan is following suit.
nothing will be done until they are conducting floggings in Gromit's tibetan wheat tea emporium.
In 30 years time, this will be irrelevant.
It totally confirmed that 'White Flight' has become an epidemic in areas of London and is on the increase. 147 languages officially spoken in Newham alone, classroom poster art 'We speak Lithuanian' adorning the walls.
Basically, London is going to he'll in a handcart, time to begin the reversal come June 23rd I feel.
30 more years of 'wheat tea jibes'? Tell me it isn't so.
The rest of Londonistan is following suit.

They even have their own mayor.
Hell not he'll. Bloody tablet......
//Labour MP Stephen Timms said the documentary seemed to be 'one-sided' //

Erm..... hello..... the lights are on but there's no one home.

I don't think it was a particularly good documentary. It should have been far harder hitting. Newham has changed out of all recognition.
