Last night my laptop downloaded Windows 10 automatically, it took abot 90 minutes, it kept starting and restarting and I couldn't use it, it then told me what had happened and asked if I'd like to go ahead with the change or decline, I declined and it said it would restore my PC back to Windows 7 Home Premium, which it did. Is there any way of stopping this happening again? Thanks for any help. Laptop is working fine today BTW.

^^^ I'll second that. The GWX Control Panel is widely recommended.

Thanks for that you two but I'm a bit thick on techi things, I clicked on the link you gave and then on the GWX Control Panel, it asked me to save it which I did, now what do I do? Please excuse my lack of knowledge on this sort of thing. :)
You will have downloaded "GWX_control_panel.exe" in your download folder just double click it to install
Why do Windows do this? I have repeatedly been asked if I want to upgrade to 10 and I have always refused their kind offer. My computer is now 71% through down loading Windows 10 and I am sure I didn't authorise it
