I've only just seen a link to this story...and the thing that immediately strikes me is this...the noise generated by extreme right wingers seems almost identical to the noise generated by certain religious factions.

I think they have more in common than they have fundamental (sorry!) differences.

The core belief system that unites them is a planet-sized arrogance that means they think their view is the only view and anyone who doesn't agree is either an idiot to be dismissed, or a threat to be eliminated - the attitudes vary depending on the strength of feeling involved.

The notion of another view, or compromise, are simply laughed at, and the huge levels of ego and self-satisfaction ensures that the individuals concerned can be easily identified as someone a normal person would not spend time with if it can be avoided.
Not sure it is a revellation.

Religious extremists are fascists, so it is not surprising that there are similarities with right wing political extremists.

They both adhere to "Our Way is the Only Way", and anyone who do not agree is met with violence. Both attract bullys and people incapable of empathy.
Are you losing it, sp?
Has the penny finally dropped?
I think those on the extreme left are also just as intolerant of anyone with differing views. They seem to be the only ones rioting in the street when anyone with opposing views visits these shores which I am sure will be proved beyond doubt if ever Donald Trump comes to visit.
well SP, you have excelled yourself, you'd consider me a right winger but I am 100% atheist. How's that theory going?
"...a planet-sized arrogance that means they think their view is the only view and anyone who doesn't agree is either an idiot" - err look a bit closer to home Andy. It's the liberal elite who berate people who do not have the "correct" view.

That may or may not be true, but it doesn't address sp's Question does it - so I'm not wandering down that particular side track today.
Think it of like a football field. The right wing and the left wing are still on the field, the extreme left and right are on the subs bench.
That's brilliant Marshwarble ... did you just come up with that?
No one is keen on others holding a flawed point of view and refusing to accept the irrefutable argument given for the indisputably right viewpoint those with the sense to see it keep telling others about.
//Think it of like a football field. The right wing and the left wing are still on the field, the extreme left and right are on the subs bench.//

Does that mean Corbyn was brought on as a sub? Or is he becoming a religious fanatic.
Sp. You asked me one of your snippy, sarcastic questions on the Afd thread. I showed you the courtesy of answering it. Now, I know you're too up yourself to apologise but you might at least acknowledge my answer before starting more of your old botox.
So did you deliberately write the title different to the question ? ie the word extreme is missing out of the title.

Interesting to see the question come from a left wing rag too.

//he core belief system that unites them is a planet-sized arrogance that means they think their view is the only view and anyone who doesn't agree is either an idiot to be dismissed//

So that pretty much sums up Mickey, and I am pretty sure he would not like being called a right winger!!

So maybe there is the answer to your question?

that's the left generally YMB!
Seems to me that they are a smartly turned out bunch of chaps, and isn't that the Black Power salute she is giving?

Imagine what would happen if a lone white woman, was to try that sort of thing in a sub-Saharan African country.
Just noticed, why did you deem it necessary to post two threads on the same subject, even using the same link?

Sorry - had a massive work emergency yesterday...which meant I couldn't log into AB.

The thing about AB, is at some point - everyone leaves a thread. It runs out of steam.

The only way I can be sure that there are no further questions directed to me is to revisit every single thread I've posted on to check that no further posts have been made.

Do you understand why that might be a little...impractical?

You didn't understand my question.

However seeing as I posted the wrong link to the story, that's completely understandable.
SP, are you going to post the right link?
