And the irony is the Mr Qwabe’s own place at Oxford is as a Rhodes Scholar, funded by a bequest from that very same imperialist. He became, according to one report, ‘visibly angry’ when the academic Mary Beard said: ‘You can’t whitewash Rhodes out of history but go on using his cash.’

Nasty little racist, ain't he. I'd like to know how he got into Oxford, seeing as he's barely literate.
The man is obviously an idiot and a racist.

I do find it odd though that the reports always omit the Mandela part of his scolarship, and wonder why that might be.

He is the beneficiary of a Mandela Rhodes Scholarship with the majority of the grant cash coming from the Mandella Foundation.

Doesn't make him a nicer person, but the charge of hypocrit (for taking an imperalists cash) is rather blunted when the Mandela Foundation are actually stumping up the majority of the Krugerrands.
^That answers my question, then. He must be a member of the right tribe/family.
he should try living in Rhodesia now.
Nelson Mandela's partnership with the Rhodes Trust

Nelson Mandela, Rhodes Building, Cape Town 2003

// “We are sometimes still asked by people how we could agree to have our name joined to that of Cecil John Rhodes in this Mandela Rhodes initiative. To us, the answer is easy, and we have explained the logic of our decision on a number of occasions. We have referred to our constitution’s injunction for us to come together across the historical divides, to build our country together with a future equally shared by all.

“…The event of this morning gives a further concrete answer to that question. The erstwhile company of Cecil John Rhodes, in which members of the Oppenheimer family were and remain such illustrious and great South Africans, has today once more demonstrated its commitment to transformation – and, in fact, reparation…

“…We see The Mandela Rhodes Foundation as a significant initiative within that broader framework of South Africans taking responsibility for the transformation of their society, so grievously skewed by a history of colonialism and apartheid. We shall once more take hands across historical divides that others may deem unbridgeable.” //

Wise words that are apparently list on the racist and bigotted Mr Qwabe.
Knob
Such a whopping great chip on a shoulder suggests a whopping great inferiority complex
So lets get this right, all the "whites" are to leave Safrica and Rhodesia, but the blacks are to be welcome in Europe and the UK with benefits and healthcare thrown in free. Well I never.
If this Knob loves Africa, what's he doing in Oxford?
Rather than castigate Qwabe, we should congratulate him for having the courage to reveal what is really in the hearts and minds of the indigenous people of the Continent of Africa, and no doubt Asia. What's theirs is theirs and what's ours is....................theirs.
Why haven't the venerable and erudite Dons of Oxford gated this gobby little chip carrier. Answers on back of a stamp!

He sounds like a prize pillock.

And if it were the other way around, I'm sure it would have reached the papers and there would be a public show of support for him (if he were the waiter).

We've seen several stories involving obvious racism over the past few years. The great thing about where we are now, is that so many people find these attitudes intolerable:

http://metro.co.uk/2016/03/29/woman-finds-na-written-on-receipt-from-central-london-bar-5781357/

And this one's weird...it has parallels to the story you've linked to webbo3:

http://www.grubstreet.com/2015/11/anti-immigrant-receipt.html#

And fantastically, people reacted in the same way - loads of tips to the waitress. I think most people recognise that racism (whatever it's source) is the province of cowards and scumbags. I'm just pleased that we're living in a time when these people can be called out.

Hypocritical oxygen thieves.

Agree, this racist should be thrown out of Oxford.
Git.

Hopefully the response of, among others, Sihle Ngobese, won't go unnoticed. But inevitably some people will think that Qwabe's actions are representative of a majority rather than just a few prize pillocks.
“I do find it odd though that the reports always omit the Mandela part of his scolarship, and wonder why that might be.”

Possibly because this racist creep and his chums are not trying to have a statue of Mr Mandela removed from Oriel College. I would imagine that Mr Mandela would be somewhat miffed if he discovered that a fellow South African (and a black one at that) was behaving in such a childish, despicable manner.

“And if it were the other way around, I'm sure it would have reached the papers and there would be a public show of support for him (if he were the waiter).”

There would be a good bit more than that, sp. Imagine: A white “posh boy” at Oxford being served by a black African waitress in a swanky restaurant in Oxford. Instead of leaving a tip he writes on the bill “Will leave a tip when you eff off back to Africa”. You think it would merely “reach the papers?” The miscreant would be thrown out of Oxford forthwith. The whole of the white population of Oxbridge students, especially the “posh” ones, would be castigated, shown up for the racist, bigoted bullies that they are. Questions would be asked in the House. Mr Cameron and his Bullingdon Club mates would be reviled, pilloried and “shown up for the way their type all are”. All staff leave at the Grauniad and the BBC would be cancelled and, instead of being tucked away on p94 it would be headlines for ten days. There would probably be a documentary about it on Channel 4.

Oh no. It would certainly do a lot more than just “reach the papers”.
Lol, how true, NJ. And don't we (nearly) all know it.

Please don't call me Git, as I find this very offensive.

I was once personally taken to task by the AB Editor for calling someone only by their surname, but it appears that only a certain few are allowed the privilege of not being offended.
AOG, it was not aimed at you, but at Mr Qwabe.
Which you persisted in doing AOG right up until the Ed told you to stop it, even though you were requested not to do it many times, so no point playing the wounded soldier yourself is it?
jim360

Then I apologise profusely both to you Jim and also the Ed.
