The 'religion of peace' turns out to be a hotbed of misogynistic tyranny. Who knew?
Best not come near me waving a hankie, most unhygienic.
From the linked article -

"A traditionalist historian from Saudi Arabia has defended his country's ban on female drivers, saying that foreign governments which allow women to get behind the wheel don't care if they are raped. "Women used to ride camels so one might ask what prevents them from driving cars," Saleh Al-Saadoon said in a debate on Rotana Khalijiyya TV. "In Saudi Arabia we have special circumstances. If a woman drives from one city to another and her car breaks down, what will become of her?" When the show's female presenter pointed out that women drive in America, Europe and the Arab world, he replied: "They don't care if they are raped on the roadside, but we do."

Islam in action folks. This is what 'the religion of peace' teaches. Rape is acceptable in Islam. Why? Because Mohammed raped. Slavery is permitted in Islam. Why? Because Mohammed kept and traded in slaves. Murder and violence to non-believers is acceptable in Islam. Why? Because Mohammed murdered and had murdered people whom he disliked and who spoke badly of Islam. Then there's paedophilia... but I think the readers will get the picture.
I see that the article is from the Daily Wail. It probably characterises the attitudes of typical Saudi Muslim men just as well as this one characterises the attitudes of typical American Christian men. (i.e. it doesn't!)

There is a fundamental difference between the Bible and the Koran. The Koran claims to be the last word of the creator. It cannot to altered in any way. What is written in the pages of the Koran is true then as now. That is the message of the Koran.

The Bible (new testament) claims no such thing. It is largely apocryphal and never once makes the claim that it is the final utterance of God.

The difference is not academic, it's crucial. The Bible (new Testament) espouses tolerance, love and acceptance. The Koran teaches intolerance, hatred and intransigence.
I know a perfect home grown aperture to house that toothpick....
I discipline my wife by obeying her, and buffing up her pedestal.
birdie, there are christian fundamentalists believe that the bible was the product of divine inspiration and may not be changed...there was quite a funny letter floating around about is asking if it was ok to take Canadians as slaves.
Go and look on youtube for films about fundamentalist churches attitudes to women....you won’t find much difference, there are nutters everywhere
yup RATTER
Buenchico, your posts are misleading. The Koran carries instructions for disciplining disobedient wives – and they don’t include hitting them with a handkerchief. They should not be compared to the tuppenny-ha’penny ramblings of a couple of ‘Christian’ crackpots. While people continue to excuse the unacceptable practices that Islam espouses, they will continue.

Woofgang, //there are christian fundamentalists believe that the bible was the product of divine inspiration and may not be changed//

There are, but that is not mainstream thinking, ‘divine inspiration’ being the relative words. The bible is subject to interpretation; the Koran is considered to be the direct word of Allah, and as such, is not.
I will have to send "She who must be obeyed" out there. That would sort em out.
Mine to, she would be the one doing the sloshing!

Seriously though, this is their land so should we be interfering? I think not.

Now if the practice is carried out over here then that is a different matter.
You sound like me youngmafbog. I just agree to everything, then I'm never wrong. Then if it goes bits up I sort it out with no interference. (^_*)
In the Muslim calendar, this year is 1437. Do you actually believe that, in our mid-15th century, there was no "disciplining" of wives?
Crank.
Shall we pull on our Marigolds, ladies, and pay him a visit to explain things gently to him?

Good point QM ... you're absolutely right, women should accept this treatment from Muslim men for at least another 500 years.
