yes
It's been time for a long time....
Definitely.
Especially as this government overspent £172 million last year by mistake on overseas development.
We lose Port Talbot but you and I prop up the Nigerian leather tanning Industry SCAM to the sum of £90 million.
Yes, I signed the petition.
I clicked to sign but Norton said: "dangerous website blocked"!
It's not only this country that throws money away. The USA gave many millions to promote goat farming for wool in Afghanistan .....they ate them..
we gave lottery money to Peruvian Guinea pig farmers!
I know they got more than 100,000 signatures but have they actually secured a debate?
In the Times today is a report that aid sent to Syria was stolen by the jihadist militia. We must be mad.
No.

Double it. We can afford it.

Get rid of state pensions, and remove the winter fuel allowance for ex-pats living in warm countries.

Job done.
They do seem keen to give it away. I imagine someone creams it off before the "aid" leaves our shores...meetings, consultations, expenses etc etc
Yes do away with it. It is a disgrace that services for the elderly, hospitals, schools, the police, border security etc are curtailed to give money away to foreign states.
Our nation should come first.
Charity starts here, send family Planing to Africa & the likes of those Country's not Money.
Oh, I have signed.
"Get rid of state pensions, and remove the winter fuel allowance for ex-pats living in warm countries. " - you mean state pensions full stop or just those for expats?
TTT

All state pensions.

They should be phased out so that the generations who have paid into them still get them. Those who are currently paying into them, will have the funds transferred to a scheme of their choosing...either a workplace pension, or a private scheme.

The funds that will be available to their private schemes will fund a massive expansion in private enterprise. From this, more jobs will be created, and from that more money will flow through the system.

Get rid of National Insurance, and release the money to the people so that we can decide what to do with it.

The biggest drain (by some distance) on public finance is pensions.

No government will ever attempt this, but it makes a lot of sense.
Not really. Would you let poor pensioners starve?
No.

Double it. We can afford it.

Get rid of state pensions, and remove the winter fuel allowance for ex-pats living in warm countries.

Job done.

Yeah, like giving it to countries that had enough money to send a probe to Mars as hundreds of thousands of their citizens live in abject poverty and women in this country can't get life-extending breast cancer medication.

It's time this folly ceased once and for all.
Actually I agree with you sp, except for the double it bit.

Foreign aid should be stopped. I have no issue with disaster aid but nothing else. It never ends up where it is supposed to.
