Letrs see the liberal do-gooders try and justify the decision...

The CPS and those that instigated the charges are s not fit for purpose if they think this was in the public interest...a complete bunch of *** and thats being kind

He seems to have been badly advised to plead guilty.
Baz when you collate all the mad and malicious actions taken by the CPS, it is impossible not to conclude that it is a deliberate process, and that they themselves are hell bent on destroying confidence in the system. Are they trying to destroy the British judicial system, thereby making the EU system attractive in comparison?
I am on occasion cited as a 'liberal do-gooder' - but I can find no defence whatsoever for the actions of the police force involved in this incident.

This gentleman has been treated appallingly, and for his actions to have such far-reaching consequences simply adds insult to injury - the requirement to play compensation simply adds icing to an impossible-to-swallow cake.

Ironically, if he had been a member of the public, he would have been hailed as a 'have-a-go hero'.

The police did not deserve such an officer - but it is the public who will suffer from the loss of his career.

"Ironically, if he had been a member of the public, he would have been hailed as a 'have-a-go hero'. "

in some quarters...but still arrested and charged, as proven by plenty of previous examples
"Crucially, this was against police rules."

Even the Police have to obey rules, if not where does it end. It isn't like he was stopping an armed robber or a murderer.

Obey the rules!!
If he had pleaded not guilty, I'm pretty sure he'd have been OK. Unfortunately, once he pleaded guilty, the result was inevitable.
Ultimately, whoever advised him is responsible for this travesty.

This is what happens when the law doesnt come down hard on scumbags like these...thank you so much to all the liberal left that brought this upon us !
RATTER15, disobeying police rules is a disciplinary matter, not a criminal offence per se.
Question Author
Rules are made to be broken...and he "broke" the rules with good reason...what would you be saying if one of his colleagues had been killed

scum like this get away with crimes like this and just keep escalating the stakes because they still think theyre untouchable...
I fail to understand quite why it was in the public interest to prosecute this chap.
I think he has been very badly done by.
I hope that he can manage to pick up the threads of his life.
Two in a row where "I agree entirely with Baz" - quick nurse, bring my medication.

This is a travesty - he was very badly advised/pressurised into pleading guilty when no court would ever have found hime guilty.

I agree that the CPS isn't fit for purpose - but this isn't a Party Political matter - they have been a shambles under governments of all shades of blue/red/yellow and want scrapping.
"RATTER15, disobeying police rules is a disciplinary matter, not a criminal offence per se."

but if he obeyed the rules he would have had the Police Force on his side!

Some People think that the Police and armed forces should be exempt from prosecution in certain situations, They are all human, that also means they screw up and they must then pay the consequences.
They are here to enforce the laws of this country, not to break them when an individual feels fit to do so!
Question Author
so youd rather he stood by and watch a colleague get killed than "break" a rule and save him ?
Question Author
and its exactly because of people like you RATTER15 we have these situations ...
Baz "so youd rather he stood by and watch a colleague get killed than "break" a rule and save him ?"

Where does it say that another colleague was at risk of being killed?

Maybe I missed that bit?
Baz, stop being so dramatic!!
Question Author
im asking what a do -gooder stickler for rules like you would say if that situation arose...rules is rules in your book so it would seem, youd be perfect working in a local council theyre full of people like you...

these scumbags deserved all they got, which is hardly anything in this case...
Baz, like I said "STOP BEING SO DRAMATIC"!! if it was a life and death situation it would be a very different situation, but it wasn't, was it!
This young man should have been privately congratulated for his initiative but advised that he would have to undergo retraining for appearances' sake - honour satisfied all round.
and the final insult, the Mail doesn't even get his name right...
