Apparently there are a lot more people who have applied but their sperm fails some sort of freezing process.
There was a good interview on this on Radio 4 this morning where the reporter kept slipping in puns such as 'so you want men to literally come forwards'.
I suppose some men are put off now by the rights of children to trace their biological fathers and I remember one case where a donor was chased for finnacial support
I cant, I got a headache!

///Rules on anonymity for sperm donors in the UK were changed in 2005 to allow any child born after that time the right to trace their biological father when they turned 18.///

You would have to be a real *****r to leave yourself wide open to that in your future! (2023 onwards)
Kids being able to trace the donor must be a big factor x
That wouldn't put many of us off now, Baldric- quite a few of us may well not be here in 19 years' time.

This may put many men off:
"Getting an approved donor on the books requires a man to come to the clinic twice a week for up to four months, refraining from sex or masturbation for two days before each visit .."
I agree tinkerbell- I was just saying it's probably not as much as an issue for many of the males on AB than it is for younger males
Are you going to join them, Mikey? I can't blame men for not wanting to do it. You don't want someone - or many curious youngsters - or turning up on your doorstep 18 years later.

I'm still chuckling at the OP, but can't comment futher!

;o)
£35 per donation apparently. Could be a nice little earner for some..........or maybe not.
Baldric- I think you're being a bit hard on the OP there
it slightly worries me that if there are only 9 donors, there are going to be a fair few babies who have the same father!

Cloverjo...I am not sure anybody would want mine these days, even if they could get any, which is doubtful !

Definitely a job for the Younger Chap.
Might be a problem down the line for those 9 donors. How many might turn up at their doors in 18 year's time?
Load of winkers wanted.
Yeah, all demanding pocket money back pay.
This issue is being discussed on the Jeremy Vine show - 12 noon on Radio 2.

If they reduced the age of donors down to about 14, they would be be overwhelmed in the rush !
Actually they dont Canary, that is banned !!

I suspect the lack of anonymity is a big factor. There is still the lingering doubt on whether some ECHR ruling could make you as the 'father' pay for the childs upbringing should things with the mother go wrong.

You reap what you sow. (or not sow in this case :-))
that is banned!!

how else do they obtain the required donations? Some sort of keyhole surgery extraction?

Pedantic question: Can you be a "donor" if you're paid? Aren't you just a supplier, like wot Sainsburys have?
