Awww RIP.
Not my cup of tea - i remember having to sit through his tv series as a kid, bored silly - but obviously a born entertainer and, apparently, a true gent. RIP.
Another great gone RIP.
sad news, he had a real knack of instilling a 'feel good' atmosphere

A charming gentleman & a popular, skilled entertainer.

RIP Val.
He exuded charm and charisma, a very easy man to listen to.

RIP Val.
88 years old....not bad innings.
I wonder who will get his Rocking Chair?
and his cardigans
His cardies died many years ago, Sandy.

Not really a great, AOG? Anyone's death is sad, though.
He seemed like a lovely man
I watched his christmas programme on the iplayer a few months ago - I really enjoyed it - though I wouldn't have at the time
RIP
One of those people who when you hear they have died, make you go Awww.I do remember his TV shows and how people would actually knit cardigans for him which he would then wear on his show. R.I.P Val Doonican.x
Sad news. I always fancied his jumpers when I was a boy !

Yes very sad news.RIP Val.
gosh they are dropping like fly's at the moment. My Gran had an LP of his and I can remember as a child singing along to Delaney had a donkey and a song about a goat eating someones knickers lol!
Sad news indeed. Loved watching him on TV - rocking chair and bright jumpers. Paddy McGinty's Goat was a favourite with the bairns.
It was Nora Mcarthy's 'falderals' that Paddy McGinty's goat ate in the 1967 song by Val. Lovely man.
It was patrick McGinty an irish man of ? came into a fortune and bought himself a goat, said he sure of goats milk,I'm gonna have my fill, but when he got the nanny home he found it was a bill!
lol!
Sad news. RIP.
