I am listening to Cleggie being interviewed by Mr Humphrys.

He has just said the he will talk to the Party that has the most MP's, after the Election. So it appears that he WILL form a coalition with the largest Party, who ever they are. Lets hope its not UKIP.

What did you expect?
So like dAvy said if you go into coalition you have to water down your own ideas to suit others not his exact words ,so cleggie is willing to waterdown his own ideas even before a vote is cast ,
Desperation Mickey? he will never be forgiven for his lies. I think this is his last request before he goes into Oblivion.
The Independent wants another Con/Lib coalition. Strange for such a left-wing paper. The Guardian will be telling us to vote UKIP next.

It shows that the Libdems will snatch its 15 minutes of fame, with whoever it can. Its the only way the Libs have ever been able to taste power, from nearly a hundred years. Because if it doesn't prop up a minority Government again, it will just revert back to the irrelevance that it more accustomed to.

Stranger things are now happening Svejk, who would have thought that mikey would have that UKIP had the slightest chance of becoming the 'LARGEST' party?

And I quote, *** So it appears that he WILL form a coalition with the largest Party, who ever they are. Lets hope its not UKIP ***
What are the current odds on a Con/Lab coalition?

AOG...my remarks were meant to be ironic, as you well knew !
he may not have much to bargain with, unfortunately for him.
Fortunately for the country I've a feeling he'll have very little to bargain with.
If the Lib Dems hold on to half their seats they could still be players. Still time left to "save" the party from utter humiliation. Can't see them holding on to more than 30 though. It's a bit sad, rather, because the obvious disaster the party is facing makes you begin to wonder if all that "we came together in the national interest" spiel is actually close to the truth. It certainly wasn't in the party's interests...

Where is the irony?
Cleggie is in the land of wishful thinking. He will not be Kingmaker this time, the figures do not add up.

326 is the magic figure to form the next Government. The LibDems will have 25 seats and the Conservatives will be the party with most seats but around 285. Which leaves about 10 seats short. So the DUP seats wouldn't be enough either.

If the SNP get the predicted 50+ seats, they will be able to take The Conservatives (or a second place Labour Party) over 326 seats. However, Sturgeon has ruled out putting the Conservatives in power, and Miliband has ruled out a deal with the SNP. I expect someone will have to change their mind, probably Miliband.
323 is the magic figure in reality as Sinn Fein and the Speaker account for probably 6 out of 350. Even if the unionists can overturn a Sinn Fein majority of one in Fermanagh and South Tyrone still 323
With all the politicians promising this & that if they can take power has it not occurred to anyone yet that it doesn't really matter who wins we will still be ruled by a foreign power ( EU) so shouldn't we really be casting votes for a French or German candidate ?
If Cameron thinks Labour can't form a government without the SNP then I would be interested to know how he thinks he can form one without them either in a lot of scenarios.
Miliband can't do any deals with the SNP: full stop. Not now. You'd never see the end of the reruns of him saying he wouldn't. But, he did hint that not all in his party agree with him, just as Cameron hinted the same about the NHS etc.
So, why not a Tory SNP coalition. Cameron hasn't had to say anything about it specifically because he hasn't had to. Would be funny to see them try to sort that one out: who would be running from whom? lol
The SNP have ruled out supporting the Tories though
I wouldn't rule out any coupling no matter what has been said and how unmatched the Parties appear. At the whiff of power, most politicians will compromise their beliefs, so I woyldn't rule out a Tory/SNP deal.
