Businesses Back The Conservatives

Further to the letter to the Telegraph a few weeks ago from the leaders of many of the UK's biggest firms, many small businesses have also endorsed the Conservatives.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/david-cameron/11564460/Boost-for-David-Cameron-as-5000-small-firms-back-Conservatives.html

Given the UK's businesses are the main employers and the wealth creators, surely they should be listened to, shouldn't they?

Yes, of course they are and they should be listened to, no doubt someone like Mikey will try and shout down this idea, but it must be remembered that he is just a Labour Mouthpiece with no real idea how businesses work!
Of course businesses back the Conservatives. Most of them realise what a mess they would be in should Labour come to power.
The CBI, which represents British business, emphatically wants Britain to remain in the EU. Indeed, its position is that its overwhelmingly best for business.

If the Tories win the next Election, one of the results may be that we leave the EU, so would British businesses be happy then ?

By the way, I shall ignore all ignorants comments made on this subject, by the usual suspects !
If we do leave the EU, it would only be because the British people as a whole want that to happen.
Are these the same people who opposed the minimum wage when it was first mooted? The same people who pay such low wages that many of their employees need tax credits in order to survive?
Good point sandy, but be prepared to be "shouted down" by the usual suspects !
Gosh such a surprise.

Yes everyone should be listened to, not just those with a bias towards what benefits them. We all have something to add.

And there are balances to be made to do the best for all sections of the population.

An extreme example for you to consider and maybe see this question isn't really significant. I reckon the slaver owners of old feel that there is benefit to whipping their slaves to do more & more. And they'd be right. So they too should have been listened to when the debate about slavery was in progress ? Folk look after their own interests. One needs to see the drivers for putting a particular view forward.

In any case I doubt all businesses back the same party.

Speak of the Devil!

Do you mean legitimate criticism Mikey?
So many of these small businesses are being subsidized by us, the taxpayer. You could say they're on benefits, too.
Oi! I hope I don't fall into the category of "usual suspects"
"no doubt someone like Mikey will try and shout down this idea"

Good on you Baldric.
Sticking to the subject on the OP, hee hee.
Nothing quite like a personal attack to get the debate going.
I'm going to sit back and watch this unfold.
Personally don't care about British politics, but love a good slagging match ;-)
Let the game begin.
Sandy....One of the ways that they are subsidised by the tax payer is that they pay such low wages, the benefit system has to step in to make their employees money up to a living wage.

Lets not forget that the Tories had many years to introduce the minimum wage and choose not to do so. In fact, they made things worse by abolishing various labour laws that gave minimum wage rates to vulnerable groups of workers. Of course, the current Tory party think that the minimum wage is a frightfully good idea, but they never explain why they voted against the legislation when it was introduced by the Labour Government, after 1979.

Curious that isn't it !

Already looks like I got it right though doesn't it Oz?

And have you read how he refers to people in his posts.
1ozzy...isn't about time for bed where you are !
oz, move over a bit on the sofa and I'll join you. I'll supply the popcorn.
Nope,,,6:05 pm here. Not bedtime yet.
Keep the game happening please otherwise I'll get bored.
Mind you Baldric, you seem to have taken to the rather sneaky tactic of playing the man not the ball, before the man has even entered the field of play! I have this image in my head now of your desperate sliding tackle bringing Mikey crashing to the floor only seconds after he leaves the players' tunnel.

But seriously, it's a terrible way to conduct a debate. At least wait until someone's shown up on the thread before laying into them personally. And then once they get here, don't do that either.
And I'll supply the liquid refreshments Mrs O.
Your spot is ready.
