If he has evidence then he should present it to the Police.

If he doesn't then he should keep his trap shut. This sort of thing only undermines all the progress made to equality.
you're only as good as your last result.

Tranmere, 2009 seaon (to October 9th).
Played 11, won 1 drawn 2, lost 8.
22nd in the table.

Celtic, February 2000. Barnes was in charge when they were defeated by inverness, precipitating the famous sun headline "Super Caley go ballistic, Celtic are atrocious"

nobody is going to have barnes at the top of their shopping list with a record like that.

As Mr Barnes says - "It's more to do with the perception of my ability to do the job because there's a certain perception of who can make a good manager."

So if he can see that as a valid point, why does he think his colour is the reason why he is not employed?

White managers who lose positions and then return to other clubs usually have something that makes them attractive to other clubs - like a track record - something Mr Barnes appears singularly to lack.
Strange that. Not long ago I read of a complaint that too many Black players were being imported to play in British clubs and were not giving the white youth a chance.I think Chelsea FC was mentioned at the time.I must of misread that because if Mr Barnes states there are not enough Blacks in football then he must be correct mustn't he? I know nothing of football but I believe he wasn't a resounding success as manager of a club up North so perhaps he doesn't have the right credentials as manager not that it should get in the way of his complaints.Next thing we know we will hear that black actors are under represented!
he was a genius on the pitch, does not always translate to management, I reckon Baz is right, he was not much kop (!) at Celtic.

"he was a genius on the pitch"

Hmmm...thats debatable...he lived off the goal at the Maracana all those years go.... average player at best !
Why is it one only hears blacks complaining, not enough black managers, not enough black actors, not enough blacks in high places etc etc.

Do we ever hear the Chinese, or any other race of people complain so much?
While Barnes was at Celtic under Dalgleish, Celtic were beaten by Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Which resulted in the famous'Sun' headline...

Super Caley go ballistic, Celtic are atrocious"

Agreed, Barnes was a rubbish manager and that is why no one wants him.
AOG, you make a good point.

I live on the edge of Birmingham that has a huge mixture of ethnic groups.

In my area there are loads of Chinese and Asian restaurants, as well as other businesses run by Chinese and Asians.

But I can hardly think of one restaurant owned and run by a black person, nor any business owned by a black person.

Sadly around here black people are better known for drug crimes, muggings and so on. Not nice to say but it is true.
Apologies Mushroom, didn't see your post.
Sorry, that is not debatable at all, he was class.
that's ok gromit - a good story like that warrants a re-run.

:-)
he //claims that he will struggle to get back into management because of the colour of his skin.... and ....he feels that it is unlikely that an opportunity to return will arise.//

How does he know? He doesn't appear to have tried. He's playing the race card - and the victim.
I hear Midsomer Marauders are looking to ring the changes, he could give them a bell.
Naomi - // How does he know? He doesn't appear to have tried. He's playing the race card - and the victim. //

Fair point.
Got to agree with RandyMarsh - on the field he was pure genius. Unfortunately talent on the field does not always translate into being able to manage. For instance, Sir Bobby Charlton tried and failed whereas his less talented brother, Jack, was a success.

In my humble opinion, Barnes should never have taken the Celtic job, he should have begun his managerial career at the bottom. If i remember correctly, his appointment at Celtic was quite unsavoury.
