Given that they were fighting to stem the flow of Mad Vlad's army into their country and the empathy they'd get from our own badly wounded Servicemen I don't see what harm it can do. It's not as if we're treating battalions of them.

If you're gonna get shot, get shot in Belfast.
These guys don't have the luxury of a QEH or Headley Court so they'll benefit from the expertise our medics have, tough and sad though the gaining of such expertise is.

Good - decent treatment and the fella deserves it
Prof Sir Keith Porter FRCS, head of surgery is a rare creature - he actually deserved his knighthood and didnt get it by crawling up ministers' bottoms, revamping european tea-break schedules or failing to send back immigrants.
AS a result of his activities they have had to re-score APACHE scores - a scoring system that tells you how likely the blown up/shot patient will die. ( None did )
In one case series where 20 deaths were to be expected, there were three....

in the 2012/13 winter, when December and January sustained a particularly prolonged cold spell, there were 26,500 deaths in which the temperatures were said to have played their part. I'm no mathematician, but 26,500 is 2 orders of magnitude lower than "millions". do you have a link Gromit?

I don't recall, gladly, howls of indignation and protest when small Palestinian,Pakistani and Iraqi children were brought back to this country to have their shattered lives put back together by the specialised medical expertise we can offer. Now that would make one look really cruel and nasty NOT to suffer little children to come unto us wouldn't it? What is the problem with five or so Ukrainian soldiers getting the best treatment we can offer them.
As chill stated earlier it is hardly a battalion and they are defending their homeland. I only hope they can bring a load of Ukrainian surgeons to learn the subject of battlefield trauma wounds with them.
I guess any dissenters may have to prepare themselves for quite a few young Pakistani school children coming hear in the near future as well. Will we see any objections to that on AB as well?

No I don't think I can compare innocent children with soldiers fighting for their country anymore than I could expect some ABers to understand the reason to fight for their homeland.I'm sure you ymfb and alot of others would not understand the word kameradeshaft which could be displayed in military hospitals and rehab centres. I think chill would understand.
I hate to sound so deliberately flippant but it seems HMG has run short of a few bloody conflicts in other countries to send our lads and lasses to so it doesn't hurt for our battle trauma surgeons and other staff keep their hand in does it.

This kind of action adds the fact that we give our armed forces to fight in other's wars at a great cost in lives and finances, plus we also train their forces free of charge, now it seems we are to become the healer of the world's people.
I have no objection to these counties using the expertise and facilities that we can provide (that is of course if our own are given the first priority) but they should be made to foot the bill, after all don't they receive enough from us in overseas aid?
Take all those children in this country whose parents have to rely on monies gained from charity functions so they can send their children to the USA for life saving operations.

We are not treating Russian soldiers in the UK. I still think the cold war is still chilly and getting chillier as sanctions bite. I believe the saying goes, "Your enemies are my enemies" You can be grateful our armed services have not been sent to the Ukraine or the butcher's bill would go through the roof. A small price to pay in this case for a display of solidarity and humanity I believe.
We wouldn't want to broach the subject of hundreds if not thousands of non EU health tourists partaking of our Health care at tax payers expense would we. That unpalatable truth isn't PC and might give the lefties the vapours with cries of racism.

I believe most overseas aid ends up in the pockets of corrupt govenments. Why are we still being asked to give charitable donations to Somalis to help them find water? They have been existing there for thousands of years and they still can't provide themselves with water even when they get government aid.
The other thing to remember AOG is that in the long term(such is the nature of battlefield casualties) our own troops will gain the benefit.

It is worth mentioning that a lot of skilled UK doctors and surgeons at Camp Bastion were TA where they honed their skills with major trauma cases. These skills have come back with them to be used on civilian cases now in the UK.In a very short space of time new techniques have saved many servicemen's and civilians lives whereas death would of once been an inevitable result in the trauma injuries sustained.
