is it right to politically airbrush history?

or are those who profess an affection for the song (and indeed of Gary Glitter's Rock 'n Roll Christmas) condoning the perpetrators?

I suspect it's nothing to do with airbrushing history and more to do with them earning royalties.
Why not? history has been airbrushed ever since there has been recorded history.
Seems a bit excessive. I don't remember the entire Phil Spector collection of Christmas songs being deleted when he was convicted of murder.
^Excellent point, calibax.
We had a similar discussion after the Glitter case i.e. whether to remove from the iPod.
General concensus was that they should remain(I only had the one, My Gang in my 70's playlist).

I'm more mad at Harris because of the poignancy of the song but still, I can't bring myself to remove it from the iPod, dunno why.

I always thought both that song and Rolf Harris very creepy

Oops - wrong thread!

Rolf Harris, ipod, nothing to remove.
Glitter, got a couple of tracks, they're staying, don't condone what he did but what he did was not musical.

methyl.... 'I just don't believe the accusations against Rolf Harris'

The jury did

I think your statement should have read 'I just don't WANT TO believe the accusations against Rolf Harris'
Methyl - 5 Days ago Rolf Harris abandoned his push to appeal 12 convictions for sexually assaulting four girls in the UK.

Harris’s initial application was refused by a single court of appeal judge in late October and the disgraced entertainer is now out of time to ask the court to revisit the issue.

A judicial office spokesman on Monday confirmed that Harris hadn’t renewed his application to appeal “and he is now out of time”.
METHYL, it was the Christmas Number One for Harris in 1969. It was written in 1902 but he made a new recording in 2008 for the ninetieth anniversary of the ending of WWI.
I don't know the way I feel about this. What would we do if we found out Leonardo da Vinci was a serial child molester for example? (No I'm not comparing the 2 people, just an extreme example of how we'd then view LDV's art)
Music is music.

Personally I don't believe Michael Jackson was innocent but I still like some of his songs.
