Bbc Tv Watchdog.why Drag It Out

I watched a clip from BBC TV Watchdog which was very interesting but please tell me why the items have to be drawn out instead of getting to the point are they so short of stories to tell ,most of the items are very interesting but the actual presentation pathetic,what do you think

The idea is to make interesting TV out of it.

Can't say it works for me - i can't stand more than fifteen seconds of Anne Robinson - she looks like a caracature, and she sounds like a cat sliding down a blackboard.

But the formula obviously works - otherwise they would have changed it somewhere along its long history.

Yes, the Money Saving Expert. His website is very useful and informative but his show is unwatchable for me

It's a shame about Watchdog. A good idea but completely ruined by its format. Each of the stories is cut into four or five pieces which are randomly distributed throughout the show. "And we'll see what happens with Mrs Coggins' boiler repair later". What we see later is a complete recap of the story (for those of us who forgot what we were told less than five minutes earlier) and then a scrap of added information. Then we cut away to problems with Albert Smith's ten-year-old Ford Focus (where the wheel fell off as he was doing 75mph up the M1) to get an update on that. Then back to Mrs Coggins' boiler for another complete recap and a morsel or two more of added info.

It's a way to make 20 minutes telly last an hour and it's absolutely infuriating. Quite OK for those with an attention span of a goldfish. Not much use for anybody else.

^^^I agree completely with NJ. They always try to make these items "entertaining" which involves a lot of padding. I have recorded the programme in the past and watched just the "useful" stuff...20 minutes as NJ says!

Martin Lewis is as irritating as can be....but he can save you a ton of money...Ive been following him for years before he was on TV and he can be as irritating as he like as long as he keeps saving me £££....

W.D. Very good Program in helping the public, M.L. Very Informative but he comes over a bit stupid, but would you miss something that may help you?

I watched Martin Lewis last night because I think he's very good on the radio and on his MSE site but I find the programme unbearable- all that dressing up as a female fortune teller, for example, made me cringe. And I'm sure he had spray-on hair on one clip. I'll just stick to reading his excellent MSE newsletter each week.
Too many of these programmes drag out every story, go over the same ground about 4 times as if we have the attention span of a goldfish, include silly sketches, and I just can't work out who likes this form of presentation.
