Yes.
Every generation produces a variety of personality types.
But good for her anyway.
Yes.
Yes.

Because the Second World War was so long ago, and so much has changed since, it is easy to fall into an assumption that only the people of that generation would step up to the mark, as did this wonderful lady and many like her.

But I believe inherently in the goodness of the human spirit, and I am sure that if the circumstances ever recurred, heaven forbid, then there would be sufficient people of sufficient character to step up and do what was needed.
Yes
Yes.

I am not at all sure how many could keep a secret for so long though.
she'd probably be tweeting as she went, wolf.
Yes.

Are you insinuating that our troops in Afghanistan and Iraq were not brave also?
Gromit - "Yes.

Are you insinuating that our troops in Afghanistan and Iraq were not brave also?"

Wait until AOG comes back from his dinner ... INCOMING!!!!!
As they say,Come the hour,Come the man/woman.I know the young people of today come in for a lot flak, but you only have to look at the men and women of the armed forces who have served in places like Afghanistan or the people who have volunteered to to go to Africa to help deal with the Ebola to see that the spirit is still there should we ever need it.
Yes

As has already been mentioned, since WWII there have been plenty of brave men and women who have laid down their lives for their country.

Even outside the armed forces, we see immense bravery and 'human spirit'.

So, yes - we will see her type again.
I think Heroes and Heroines walk amongst us all the time.

I am very glad she is getting this recognition, a wonderful lady.

Think OG got it right, every generation produces it's Heroes when needed.
the brave that walk amongst us often don't think of themselves as that - they have the ability and they just get on with what needs doing, then they melt away. nicholas winton, for instance, only came to the world's attention 40 years after he did his bit.

No. People were just better people back then.
They were, they were better at war for a start.
Well except for Hitler.
oh and Himmler, and er...Stalin. Actually some of the women were a bit dodgy too. Maria Mandel, Ilse Koch etc.

I'm going to reevaluate my answer.... If The Time Ever Came Again we Could Find Such Brave Heroes As This Great Lady!
//they were better at war for a start.//

those who were on Ardent, Acasta and Glorious in June 1940 might disagree with you on that.
Every generation produces men and women of outstanding bravery and patriotism. This generation is no exception.
Yes. Every generation has brave people in it. Sometimes they have an opportunity to show their mettle, though they mightn't think of themselves as brave or heroes while doing so, while in peaceful times they just get on with their lives.
Then there jobs like the police or fire brigade where quiet, unsung, courage is called for.
