Myleene Klass

"You can't just point at things and tax them"

It wasn't Miliband who pointed at spare bedrooms Myleene, was it?
Just shows the options we've got, either Ed Milliband or another 5 years of David Cameron, neither option fills me with any optimism.
Fundamentally the spare bedroom subsidy is a good idea - in practice however it is impractical as the housing stock is not available to downsize those who have a spare room but no need for it.

The Mansion Tax though is buffoonery of the first order; this will affect many people who are asset rich cash poor, such as the elderly who may own a modest 3 bed-semi in a sought after area which over the decades they have owned it has appreciated to beyond the £2m mark. People will say they can sell their house to release the equity.....but why should they?

Quite sumply this is a tax on London.

This buffoonery is right up there with the mind boggingly absurd situation where a husband and wife can earn £49,999 each and still get child benefit, but if just one of them worked, but earns £60,000, they lose their child benefit. If I live to be 100 I will never understand the logic of this. I raise this simply to highlight that both parties are capable of stupid ideas.

Anyway, back to Mylene Klass........this simply demonstrates that Milliband is a political minnow. Labour really will do themselves a favour by getting shot of him now.
Why should a person that's grafted hard all his / her life to then be taxed on their 2M home, you tell me that's fair?
That clip does not show Miliband losing an argument to a pop star.
Was that really the best clip the Daily Mail could find from the whole show?
// "You can't just point at things and tax them" //

Actually, that's exactly what governments can and do.

I wouldn't mind losing an argument with Myleene Klass.
It's just hearsay, surely!

"It wasn't Miliband who pointed at spare bedrooms Myleene, was it?" - this keeps comming up, I have spare bedrooms and no on has ever asked me for more tax, is there a form I need to fill in or something?

"Why should a person that's grafted hard all his / her life to then be taxed on their 2M home, you tell me that's fair? " - that socialism for you, how dare you prosper, getting rich on the backs of the poor be damed!

a former popstar - as in "discovered" by nigel Lythgoe and Nicki Chapman and given the hard sell on a tv reality show.
from littlewoods catalogue to politics,!!!!!!
/A Classically trained Musician, sorry the posters heading said a former pop star,? /

Quite a few people are both
But then it is always difficult to defend Politics of Envy.
I found it bizarre at the time that Ed Miliband was elected leader. If the 2010 election meant anything for Labour, then for me it meant a rejection of the Brownite side of the party. Blairite Labour won three elections on the bounce, after all, and then Gordon Brown became leader, and apart from a brief surge similar to Clegg's after the first election, things went downhill from there. Perhaps this wasn't entirely Brown's fault, but then it was his chancellorship that led in part at least to the economic crisis...

Anyway, the point is that Brownite Labour never won anything. So why have we ended up in the wake of 2010 with a leader and shadow Chancellor who were Brown's closest allies? Incredible, surprising, and baffling. I'd like to see Ed Miliband stay as leader for another year only in the sense that maybe this time, after a second disastrous defeat, the Labour Party will see that the direction Ed's taking them is completely the wrong one, and revert to something a bit closer to Blairite Labour (ideally without so much of the spin, though.)
Blair, very cleverly, recognised that class struggle will never win an election. It is middle England that giveth and Middle England that taketh, ie 'Mondeo Man'.

To win you need to appeal to them, and Mondeo man pirations and does not want his hard earned spent on nonsense, neither does he want to see high taxation on where he wants to get to.
Sorry, but who pays any attention to that Klass woman? I'm no fan of Millie, but Klass should've just shut up.
......Rather than wiping the floor with the LOTO? right oh!
TTT Just seen your post, If a person has come up the ladder grafted their @rse off, you tell me it's not right that they should benefit from their graft? If someone want's taxing it's the Likes Of Google / FB, can you blame people for trying to avoid paying vast amounts? Socialist, far from it, Realist, Yes, Tax Evasions No, I've done my Graft so has a lot on here.
