That word just cost Rio Ferdinand a 3 match ban and a £25K fine.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/queens-park-rangers/11196698/Rio-Ferdinand-suspended-by-FA-for-three-matches-and-fined-25k-over-inappropriate-tweet.html

Mixing a footballer and Twitter is a dangerous thing, but the sanction does seem rather excessive for what would appear to be banter.

Do you think the FA have it in for Ferdinand, especially after how leniently they treated the Premier League Chief Executive, Richard Scudamore, for a similar offence?

Question your use of the word banter.
As the word used is a Caribbean word for *** or a promiscuous woman I don't think the ban was at all excessive.

// The word ‘sket’ is Caribbean slang for a promiscuous girl or woman //

In case anyone else was wondering.
lol@ael. I like that.
In light of his recent performances the 3 match ban must have come as a blessing for Harry.
Had it been John Terry I think you would have not supported him so much?

Ferdinand is always in trouble, was it not him who called Ashley Cole a 'choc-ice' black on the outside, white on the inside?

i can't find a post supporting him?
Who said we are a free country?
seems a bit harsh. I've never understood why people feel the need to broadcast their thoughts anyway.
It seems to be that the FA have taken a dim view of him calling a fellow-Tweeters mother a ***.

Good job he never said that to Zinedine Zidane....

Again you are reading words I have not used. I am NOT supporting Rio Ferdinand.

I am observing his punishment is much greater than that of Richard Scudamore who committed a similar offence.

I am saying the FA are hypocrits or not consistant. I am not defending Ferdinand's action, just raising an eyebrow at the punishment.
I'd suggest the FA is following the pattern for UK Law - each case is considered separately on its own merits. Rio Ferdinand is well known, a potential role model and therefore needs to set a good example - with that comes a harsher punishment if steps out of line. Not many people care what Richard Scudamore said because they've never heard of him.
Pocket change to an overpaid footballist prima donna
I only read this to find out the meaning of the word (thanks Ludwig) - footballers, their sport and life hold no interest for me in any sense.
