Shocked and horrified......yes.

Surprised?......unfortunately, no.
Ditto JTH
appalled.............
Agree with the above. What sentence are the Vatican going to give him - probably a life of luxury incarcerated in some palace. Santo Mosé.

This is the type of thing that can happen when you deprive people of a normal, natural, sex life.
I'm not sure of that, Ratter......they deprive themselves surely by claiming to have a vocation......

But maybe that "vocation" gave them a way of accessing their perversions without suspicion....til recently?
I disagree, Ratter.
The debacle surrounding the Bishop of Arundel and Brighton is what happens when you deprive people of a normal, natural, sex life......

Archbishop Jozef Wesolowski would have been a paedophile whatever career path he had chosen. It is no coincidence, however, that joining the clergy gives you access to, and power over, vulnerable children.

Ratter/JTH, probably a little from column A and a little from column B.

I am not surprised.

jackthehat, you are probably right!
Have to agree word for word with Jack.
No-one who was interested in having a normal natural sex life would become a priest (or nun) in the first place. I think that's fairly self-evident.

I dont beleive he joined the preisthood , so he could have 'easy' access to children .
The religion bit is a total red herring - if he was a bricklayer/doctor / teacher , he would have done the same thing .

Look at the recent case of the children's consultant who is charged over abusing children in his care
No, I'm not surprised.
Oh I think some do, Bazile....with the priesthood comes the power over people....especially children....(do I ever know that).....that lay people don't always have.

Of course he would have been perverted whatever occupation he held....but being a priest makes it easier....and so much easier many years ago.
These priests, especially in Places like Ireland, were untouchable. Lots of men with Paedo leanings went into the priesthood and went undetected for years. When they were found out they were treated with kid gloves. Sent off to a retreat and moved to start again.
Oh, this is the priest I read about earlier in the week who worked in the Dominican Republic. Aparently this present Pope had to have him 'defrocked' before he could be arrested in the Vatican. Wouldn't have happened under the previous (still alive) Pope whose job it was to protect them in his job before he became Pope. At lease this Pope is trying to tackle the scandal
100,000 pictures ??

Do priests have a lot of spare time?
Not surprised in the slightest ratter...seems about par for the course to me.
