Everywhere has nutcases. Sad to hear of though.
but you'd still have pro-union supporters right here in green and pleasant England...
Congratulations to Scotland for it democratic decision.

In the speech of Salmond he said that the voice of Scottish people had spoken "...at this moment" and it is that "at this moment" that worries me.

The quote of Winston Churchill at the end of the Battle of Britain seems as appropriate to Scotland as it did to the UK in those dark days of 1940:

///Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.///

I fear that this result has just awakened a sleeping giant and unsettled times are ahead............I hope not.

Northern Ireland type violence would be my greatest fear.
I don't think they are representative of pro-union supporters - but if they were a 'Yes' vote would have been preferable.
I think they were just the typical drunk yobs that turn up at this sort of event with the intention of bashing the police and other members of the public. I`m not sure it`s an indication of things to come.
Get a ****** grip AOG, this crap last night was orchestrated violence by the self same groups who pollute sport and any other forum that will encourage thuggery... Us normal no voters in Scotland feel the same every time English football supporters create violence and destruction everywhere they go, probably the same thugs perpetrated last nights nonsense

Why criticise English football supporters, when you have your own home grown supporters who "create violence and destruction everywhere they go"?

thank you slapshot...................................
Usual Scottish weekend night I would have thought.
I have had a read of this story on the BBC site and it wasn't really much of a mass riot/fight. Thee appears to have been in injuries. Granted if the police had not been there it could have turned into a brawl.

It is pretty much a non-story. I was just in the city centre and there was nothing happening - apart from people shopping.

AOG - I think that you will find that most of the 'discussions' that have taken place regarding the vote and the verdict/outcome have been very Scottish - good humoured with a bit of cynicism and sarcasm thrown in.

"Many of the protester, (sic) who are mostly aged between 20 and 40, appear to be quite intoxicated " Drunk people and a night in Glasgow...hardly unexpected !

This has the smell of the Orange Order to me.
No different from any other big city the length and breadth of the land when there's a football match, rally or some kind of march on the go.
There's a quiet agreement that it doesn't get routinely reported so we think the bad old days are behind us,
It looks like a normal Saturday night in Glasgow to me.
Fried Mars Bar anyone?
'' sigh ''
I'll see your Mars Bar and raise you a dish of tripe, Laver bread and Brains Faggots and a pint of (retches) bitter, Naomi. :-)
The result of the Scottish referendum has done nothing but divide a Country (Scotland) which I feel would have remained united with a Yes Vote.

Having voted NO the Scots are now dependent on what Westminster decides and the folk North of the English Border are going to loose their votes in what is an English Parliament.........Incidentally, if you have not already guessed, I am Not English or Scottish, but a mere observer of the position which prevails.

Hans.
No change there, then.
