That's a shame.
and you`ll still get Irn Bru duty free !
Farrier, you, and others, are always poking at the Conservatives, but I've yet to hear any of you explain what was really so marvellous about the long years of Labour government. After a lifetime voting Labour, they taught me to vote Conservative, so I can only imagine I've missed something. Perhaps you'll tell me what that is?

According to your post naomi ,you had to be taught ,to vote Consevative,
Who was your teacher, bet it was a female,
you also say, /They taught me/ . Perhaps you will tell me ,who were They??
:0)..
The other good thing is Andy is still British.................hoorah!

:0(
Farrier, my pleasure. Tony Blair and his cronies.

Now will you answer my question?
God help us if we get Ed Milliband and Ed Balls in power, what policies have they then, that is better than what they had before. If I remember correctly he was in the last Labour Government and look what a mess they left us in.
Being honest, one would not get a perpetual Tory government anyway. They'd rule for a while but eventually folk would be desperate for an alternative and some group would step in and become that.

OG Thank you, I feel better ,now that you have reassured me that it could never happen.

What a shame naomi, thought we had the same teacher,It was thatcher TBW who taught me not to vote Tory.
Love it. A 14 year old know-all going on about Mrs Thatcher.
Svejk, Really? Is Farrier 14?
I suppose it is a good thing if you don't mind a Labour Govt. that will inevitably leave the country bankrupt again.
Naomi...I will have a go at answering your question of 08:21, although its likely that you won't agree. But I will have a go anyway.

Years and years of de-industrialisation by the Tories from 1979 onwards. Millions of people on the dole and widespread unemployment in large areas of the country. Devastation of whole communities. Richer getting considerably richer and the poor getting considerably poorer. Lots of bright young things with red braces on, driving around the M25 in their Porsches, and long queues at the dole offices everywhere else.

I know its not terribly convenient to be reminded of this but Labour swept to power in a landslide Election in May 1997, an Election result not seen since 1945. They gave devolution to Scotland and Wales...not overly popular within the M25 but a real success north of the Border and across my side of the Severn Bridge. The Labour administration brought in the Minimum wage, a move that the Tories failed to do in the 18 years that they were in office. The Tories fought against this highly popular move but now their official line is that they like the idea after all !

There are many reasons why people vote Labour, and they are still doing so today. Its obvious to anyone that if the Tories were not outnumbered by Giant Pandas in Scotland, the Referendum might never have taken place after all.
Naomi...it is completely irrelevant how old Farrier is. He has an opinion that differs from yours and he is entitled to do so. Ageism has no place here on AB. I'm 61 by the way.
//de-industrialisation by the Tories//. You mean getting rid of non profit making industries that were costing us all a small fortune because of the unions?
No Zacs...I mean closing down coal mines one week and then importing coal from Perth the next week.

Eh...that is Perth, Australia, not Perth Scotland.
Mikey, it wasn't the Tories that 'de-industrialised ' Britain, it was Far Eastern industry.Miners would stil be working down holes in the ground and dying in great numbers if they were treated and paid like their Far Eastern brothers.
