Peter Kellner, head of YouGov, has just given the result, of which he is, in his own words, 99% certain.

And that result is: 46& Yes, 54% No.

And how has he arrived at this? His organisation has polled 1,828 people who had voted, plus another 800 postal voters. That's 2,628 voters out of around an expected 4 million.

hope so jeffa ! let`s not pull the party poppers yet though !
oh , may as well go to bed then !
Best place Ann.
I hope he is right, what a relief. Do the SNP have another chance in a few years time?
If Yes win, who'll go first...Peter Kellner or David Cameron?
Question Author
Good question! In my view, neither had the slightest credibility anyway, so I'd quite like them to both go together.
If its that close, the Yes contingent will feel betrayed by the No contingent, and they will spend the next few years bitching with each other, instead of bitching about the English.

There might even be a Scottish Civil War.
If it is a 'no' Salmond will just say the question was not set right and demand another go.( and probably try to drop the voting age to 10 this time.)

There won't be a Civil War! If Yes win, a majority of the Scottish population believe that they are the best people to run their own country. If No win, a majority of the Scottish population do not believe that they can run their own country.
I am sure Glasgow will vote 'Yes' they could become an independent city state with their own flag showing a Deep fried Mars bar rampant !
if it is no...Salmond and Nicola Sturgess should walk..he certainly should not remain first minister..
My money's on a Scottish Civil War.
Good one Ed

I want to be first to claim that the dont-knows didnt divide as the declared Yes/No proportion - the "dont knows" were "secret noes and wont tell"

same effect seen in the Thatcher elections
Peter Kellner has moved the pound. Sterling hit a new two-week high against the US dollar in the global foreign exchange markets, after tonight’s YouGov polling data was released.
oh heck, civil war..........brother against brother. grannie against granddad :)
agree PP
ed // I am sure Glasgow will vote 'Yes' they could become an independent city state with their own flag showing a Deep fried Mars bar rampant !//

the logo should be Jimmy-three-stomachs ( Gazza's pal) fitting a deep fried mars bar sidways into his mouth and not lengthways

or more than one
Don't see why Cameron should resign. If anyone goes it should be Salmond. Whatver the result jj is right they will be bitching about it for years after and we will get drawn into it too.
