The kid has a brain tumour - his parents have removed him from hospital and have taken him to France......surely that is their legal right? The hospital has triggered an enormous police search on either side of the Channel.

I am not debating the right or wrongs of this, though it's coming to light that they may well be Jehovahs (with an Islamic name for the kid), just questioning the legality of the hospital to impose without a court order.

Perhaps the hospital is in the process of getting a court order. I do worry as it appears the child can only be fed through a tube and the parents are not trained in how to do it. If they try to remove his feeding tube they could cause some quite serious damage.
Neither the BBC or Mail (where I initially read the article) state when the boy's tumor is terminal. If it is, I can't say I blame them.

This is a difficult one to comment on really , they have the right to do as they think right for their child - but as he needs so much care it seems wrong the way they have done this.
He has a feeding tube in place though B00 so if they don't bring him back for treatment he may weaken and die from starvation. I have not seen any report that he is terminal, they would have said so if he was.
Unless they have made contacts in France to get the tube feed sorted.
Why I was slightly cagy how I replied Daffy :-)

Thanks, mamya, for the link...watching the Beeb news here.

I suspect that he is terminal - surely it's the parents right to let him die as they want - in the bosom of his family.....?
Ta Baldric, did not know there were two threads.
I'm struggling to choose my side of the fence on this one. Until I know whether he is terminal I shall remain firmly in the middle I think.
If terminal then it puts a different complexion on it - I agree with that.

Thanks Baldric - that's more about why they have done it, mine is about the legal question.....I believe the hospital is out of order.
On the 1 o'clock news it was reported the boy may die if the battery in his feed tube is not replaced today.
As i said above, they may have that in hand - I am sure they have preplanned this and it is not a spur of the moment thing.
It has been confirmed that they are Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Some Jehovah’s Witness don’t restrict their refusal of treatment to blood transfusions.

I don't agree that they have the right to do what they think is right for their child.
Naomi,
Seems to conflict with this page from their website:

Zacs, my link is from their website.
no point speculating until the facts are known, just hope the child is in no danger.
He is in danger though!!!!
