\\\\Frustrated by his inability even as a consultant to bring about improvement and change in the NHS, which he was convinced the Conservatives were starving of funds, he decided to stand for Parliament though it meant a pay cut of £10,000 a year.\\

An incredible man and intellect for so many reasons.....left wing ideals and Labour through and through.

He knew, 30 years ago that the NHS needed urgent reform and gave uo surgery to put forward his argument as an Labour MP in Scotland.

He will only be missed by a few........and that is the pity.

PP...I am sure, but "Sam" not only being a neurosurgeon and a minister in the Scottish parliament was the longest lung transplant patient..............doesnt' the latter make him a "bit" special?
I did see this today Sqad.

I presume you came across him personally. As you say, an all-round Good Man, of which we need more. And what a survivor !
why would sqad '' come across '' SG. different countries. specialities ?
If I have got it right, I am sure that Sqad did some training north of the border annie...but I might have got that wrong. He will let us Know, no doubt, when he has returned from his Club !
no disrespect to sqad, but SG was much younger, I'm sure as you say if sqad did meet him he will tell us.
Galbraith was a very talented guy on a number of fronts. He saved many lives. One of his great interests was climbing, well he climbed a few personal mountains in his life particularly after his lung illness. I liked hearing about his low key style but still had the audacity to use the word '***'!

Only 68 years old but a much lived life....

Censor not doing this justice! Boll####
