I have, said person was on remand. On entering all pockets emptied and put in a tray (a bit like at the airport) Bag searched then put in a locker. Allowed to keep some money to spend in the vending machines to buy goodies for said inmate. The worst bit was sticking their fingers in my mouth to ensure I had no untoward objects in there. I complained that the officer had not changed her gloves from the previous visitor. She ummed and moaned a bit but changed her gloves. What if any is your experience. I've promised my self never again will I go through the humiliation of that again.

You better believe it tilly. Pat you bum your boobs and your f*nny the works.
No, but I've delivered to a prison. Not so intrusive but still thorough.
I suppose it's something to do with keeping the contraband out and the baddies in.
Too numerous to mention.
Not pleasant is it? But neccessary though. My baby son had his nappy searched when his mum visited me in prison (some years ago). Not pleasant but neccesary to prevent drug smuggling (goes on regardless). Have also visited prison and been subjected to the same humiliation.
Well done for complaining though about the gloves, In my experience prison officers think they are above the law....or above common hygeine and decency at least! (I might be biased though...)
Yes, on numerous occasions. My sister had a fiance on remand at Leicester prison when I was 16 (back in the 80s), I used to go on nearly every visit to him with her. I think it was around 3 times a week for around 6 months.
No, luckily I haven't.
Not for a long time, but have a nagging feeling I should at the moment.

How do you suppose the mobile phones were smuggled into the prison?
http://www.theanswerbank.co.uk/News/Question1359053.html
They are not allowed to search you 'internally' that is how phones and drugs get in.
And dont forget that prisoners are also subject to body searches. A quick look up the behind and in the genital area...while naked... and in the mouth, ears etc.
(just like you get at Butlins, according to the media)
EDDIE, always wondered just HOW you get a phone in to prison, but more wondered how you get a CHARGER in?...my eyes water thinking about it.

Mamya. DON'T go, send a parcel send money but don't go. It gets you down for days.
I am fighting it, but don't think I will go.
yes I visited for 10 years long before I met CS, up and down the country me & the kids would go, it wasn't so strict in those days even though it was maximum security, would I do it again nowadays no I would not.
I had to but on work business. Very impressed with the various checks and security. I even took part in a training exercise where drugs were deliberately planted on my person and two dogs that were potential drug finders successfully picked me out.
I would hate to to and visit, but I suppose if it was someone i cared for I would.
Yes...

No one stuck their fingers in my mouth though.

Sniffer dog spent way too much time sniffing me. I started to panic which was pretty stupid considering I wasn't trying to smuggle drugs. When the dog had finished the handler asked me if I had a dog. Yes...and thats why.
Got a meeting and lunch with the Governor of Durham prison in few weeks time and really not looking forward to the security checks I must admit !
