Bu66er it's already broken apparently: "However, hours after the truce began, Palestinians said four people had been killed by Israeli fire, apparently in response to a rocket attack." - Note the important - "in response to a rocket attack" - part of that sentence.

Israel have already claimed Hamas broke it!
If there was peace some of the Hamas big-wigs would have to get an 'actual' job. (if they wanted to maintain suites in luxury Paris hotels)
Well no surprise there.

Hamas dont want a ceasefire, they have made no bones about it in the past and the 4*2's must be poised finger over button ready to retaliate.

What a pair !
What I can't quite understand about all this is the fact that a large proportion ABers seem to support Israel over this, that's what's puzzling, why?

Regular contributors to this news section know that I am no supported of Islam, or show any anti-Semitism, but this is not about religion, but the disproportionate slaughter of innocent children, women and the old.

When is the Israeli government going to be taken to task over this?

"What I can't quite understand about all this is the fact that a large proportion ABers seem to support Israel over this, that's what's puzzling, why? " - I am not supporting Israel as such I am more supporting the right of self defence. The way I see it is that Hamas sill not stop firing missiles and thus Israel is always retaliating. If you were in the pub having a drink and there was an annoying bloke in the corner who kept firing at you with a pea shooter, I'd support your right to go and smack him in the mouth. If after several smacks in the mouth he has not learnt that: firing peashooter = bloody nose then I have no sympathy and indeedd would ask the question, are you simply supposed to tolerate this annoying twerp?

'they'll' say you cant take a gun out and shoot pea-shooter man(and his family)
Imagine you came home from the pub one evening and found a family of squatters in your house. All of them give you a good kicking and them drag you to the garden shed.
'You can live here if you're quiet and don't protest about us taking over you gaff,' one says. 'But if you do protest we'll be down to give you another unmerciful beating'.
I think that sums it up pretty well TTT.The deaths of the innocent is shocking,as was in Coventry,London,Plymouth et al during the blitz.Life is cheap to Hamas. They revel in the pity shown in their plight and are the cause of the deaths of their own people. The innocents are being made unwilling martyrs to the Hamas cause.
So the Israeli's are really unwitting cat's paws in a Hamas scheme?
Thanks for the analogy Sandy, puts the right perspective on the situation, one which the pro-Israelis chhose to ignore.
I've seen loads of films of Israelis evicting their own settlers and releasing hundreds of Hamas(fighters?)
They seem quite flexible but the Palestinians don't (and they're the most dreadful liars)
No Sandy. As TTT said. They are defending themselves against a cowardly terrorist aggressor.

In answer to your man in a pub scenario, I would attack the person with the pea shooter, and give him a bloody nose if that was what was necessary to make him stop, but noway would I attack his wife and kids or any others who happened to be innocently in his company.

Did we ever go over and bomb Dublin or Belfast?
Israel claim Hamas broke the ceasefire and Hamas claim Israel broke it.
What an absolute shocker. I never would have seen that coming.

Tw4ts the lot of them.
/// Palestinian officials in Gaza said on Thursday that 8,200 people had been wounded in the four-week operation. Up to 80% of the Palestinian casualties were civilians, according to local non-government organisations and the UN. ///

/// Three civilians on the Israeli side and 56 soldiers have been killed so far. ///

wrong analogy, sandy and AOG, the man with the peashooter is hamas/Gaza, AOG is Israel. Israel are not attacking other nations. So AOG if he carries on after you smack him, what then?

Sandy, I accept your point about the land situation but if I arrive home and squatters give me a kicking, I'd be stupid to keep going back, I'd find another way. I agree Isreal ae wrongbut that's irrelevant to this situation, gettng your own people slaughterd because you are right does not help, firing misslies or not firing missiles are not the only options. Hamas and the wider palistinians would get more world support if they sought peace and reclamation through proper channels.

If a truck mounts the pavement do I stand my ground and get squashed because I am in the right?

anyway Gaza is not occupied is it? Did they not withdraw in 2005? Or are you talking about the whole of what we now know as Israel?
