he is still being paid as though he were a member of the cabinet even though his new position is not traditionally a full cabinet post
a mere bauble - his extra whack as a non Cainet member...

doesnt he command £10 000 for an after-dinner speech ?

( so you are hosting din dins for 200, that is an uplife of £50 per person to hear him speak for 30 mins ) wow I wish I could get work like that
If the people who host such dinners want to pay that amount then that is their choice but why should taxpayers give Hague extra money for no reason other than that he's Dave's mate.

here's mine http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-28424394 and the info I used is included in that article
He had looked increasing dissatified in the job, and the Syria Rebels vote in the commons caused Cameton a great deal of embarrassment.

His intention to step down at the next election gave Cameron the opportunity to promote someone who was in it for the long haul.
Who was it said all political careers end in tragedy? We must all remember the precocious Hague haranguing his elders at a party conference, the heady days when he led the party, and here he is now the holder of a sinecure.

ABers find it far more ffun to just let rip w/o such fripperies
Sqad agonised after using a ref for the first time in 10 y !

Humpty dumpty ? you arent going to get a ref for that
and dividing 10 000 / 200 - if you cant do that you need a calculator and not a ref....
My we are on form today with our Tory bashing aren't we? Well you seem to have attracted the usual suspects to a lefty love in.

The link given does not refer to Hague at all(Baroness Stowell), so perhaps a link to justify the Tory bashing is in order?
try reading the article, not just the headline

It's just that the OP kicks off with the kind of Juvenile remark you would expect to hear in a Secondary School Playground, and nothing to substantiate it at all.
I think the idea was for Hague to campaign more here in the North - its believed he is very popular up here !!!!!

but didn't little Willie Hague always give the impression that he WAS in a Secondry school playground ?
Grammar school...college....cabinet.

John Major, William Hague, Lady Thatcher, John Prescott, Ed Milliband.......and so on.....these ministers have worked hard and gained a place in history........not a sign of a public school.

I thought that you would be pleased Farriercm........what is your contribution to society, other than AB.

Would take you more seriously Farrier if you could provide a link or two now and again,
Rocket Science it ain't.

PS, the Park was luverly, the hounds had a whale of a time!
Hague has always come across as a hardworking, knowledgable and straight talking chap. In common with many of us he looks a bit odd....so what?
