Club president Rinat Akhmetov has warned that the players may face sanctions if they do not return.

"Players have contracts that they have to abide by. If they do not come, I think, they will be the first to suffer," Akhmetov told the club's website.

Dunno about you but I'd take sanctions over possible death any day.

I'm no fan of Rinat Akhmetov but these players seem out of order to me. Refusing to travel to Lviv, probably the safest city in Ukraine, seems well out of order. And Shakhtar have played all their games well away from Donetsk ever since the Russian invasion.
Would be interesting to get a fee of these overpaid players face to face with some of their fans exiled or still stuck in Donetsk, to explain their actions.
