British planetary scientist Colin Pillinger, best known for his 2003 attempt to land a spacecraft on Mars, has died aged 70
I wasnt aware of his mission. Rest in Peace Colin.
I hardly see it as a grief fest divebuddy and trust me I've seen some, just a respectful mention on the passing of a man who made a contribution to science.

RIP
An intelligent & likeable man.

RIP Colin.
I remember being most disappointed when there was no contact with the Beagle, although I've always had a suspicion we were scuppered by the Americans.
Well said Mamyalynne, and shame on you divebuddy.
A man to be much admired......quite a character.

Which will be more than will ever be said about Divebuddy.....You really have gone down in my estimation the last couple of days.

Sorry, Baz...and thank you for posting this....I didn't know.
Yep RIP Colin, he used to remind me of Noddy Holder with those fantastic side burns of his.
RIP a real loss to us all. Cheer up Divebuddy I'm sure you'll be in the news for all your endeavours for humankind when you die as well;-)
He was well respected here in Milton Keynes and will be sadly missed. RIP Colin.

Oh, Dive sweetie....We didn't fall out...I said my piece on that thread...I was right and you were wrong....nothing to fall out about surely?

And as for feuding......I never feud.....life is far to short for that....♥
heard about this on the late news today, a very, very clever man.
Only heard him a few times, but he was passionate about science and it was infectious.
RIP and condolences to his family and friends,
I was, as you say, only gently chastising you divebuddy. I hope we haven't entered a feud period by my so doing ?
