Articles in newspapers aren't 'thoughts' you know

The media have to comply with all sorts of laws that don't apply to what goes on in people's heads
Oh but its Lymington.....anything can (and does) happen there.......
They are not thoughts when he puts them into words and utters them. If the councillor was not happy about the newspapers repeating his past utterances, then perhaps he should not have put them on record in the first place.

This does seem like wasting police time. Police are not the personal militia of councillors. It is hard to see what crime had been committed that warranted the police visiting the newspaper.
