An attack of heterosexuality

Yes, you heard it right.

It would appear that this couple have been split up because they are a straight married couple, whereas in fact, they have been barred from sharing a room in the Olympic village because there are designated female accommodation and designated male.

However, it would appear that there are 'dozens' of gay athletes for whom this doesn't apply, because...well, because they are the same sex.

Interesting point - according to the chap, there are 'tons of gay couples on the Australian Olympic team'

Who'd have thought eh?

Is this really an attack on heterosexuals? Or has this story been spun out of the need to provide more fuel for the 'PC fire'?

I am not the only one.
No - but coming from you, the irony is almost too much to bear!!!!

Well if you must resort to insults then there is little more that I can add, except to remind you it was I who was being jovial and it was you who criticised me for being so.

So what does that say about you?
AOG - you WERE being jovial then

Thuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuddddddd
AOG - you really do need to lighten up!

Seriously - I was genuinley being light-hearted with my initial comment - it appears you took me seriously - no problem.

I was not being at all insulting - as my posts show, and I am certainly not going to get into a slanging match about this.

Let's move on shall we.
I sometimes wonder how Mrs AOG ever manages to hoover in the corners of the room...they are so full of teddies!!!

Once again andy, I can't help thinking if only John Terry had used these exact words to Anton Ferdinand, alot of trouble could have been avoided.
Indeed ludwig!

Perhaps Mr Terry and I approach potential arguments differently.

I will certainly fight my corner if I believe I am right, but if it is a simply misunderstanding, surely it is better to be adult about it, realise it for what it is, and move on.

I think Mr Terry is rather more pugnacious than I - maybe it comes with being a sportsman - or a Chelsea player (I'm kidding!!!!!!)
I always think that if there was an annual award for "Mr Reasonable" then Andy Hughes would win it hands down
Thanks Mrs O - your support is appreciated (I wear it with pride!!)
You are welcome Andy. (You were perfect for the role as village PC in the radio show!)

/// Oh ha ha AOG, let me hold my sides less they split! ////

/// It is 2012 you know - such puerile humour was left behind in the playground about 1978. ///

This is your initial comment, read it through again, do you seriously think this was in any way you were genuinely being light-hearted?

This was completely out of the blue, we had not previously had any exchanges, so why did you find the need to be so provocative in the first place?

Had you had said this to a friend who had just made a jovial remark not involving you whatsoever, would you have also expected him to brush it off also?

You later stated that you will certainly fight your corner, so please allow me the privilege of fighting my corner also.
calm down, folks, you are starting to go ever so slightly off-topic
Getting back on topic - Just how many husbands and wives have they actually shot?

<<Husband and wife shooters barred from sharing a room at the Olympic Village>>
AOG - I said I was not getting into a slanging match, and I am not.

If it matters to you so much to have the last word, then consider you have had it.

Matter closed - I hope.
Gentlemen, why, oh why, do we have to have these 'My dad's bigger than your dad' type of arguments in the News section. Why don't you both just grow up?
WELSHYORKIE - Please read my last post. thank you.
When did they start measuring gay couples in 'Tons' ?

AOG

I think you meant 'humourless'?

As I have previously explained, this story seems to be without merit, and because of that I believe it warrants discussion. You yourself saw value in discussing the story, but left it to me (for which I thank you).

Rather than focussing on my (admittedly biased) reasons for highlighting the story, I'd be interested in your opinion of the story itself.

Do you think this is a deliberate case of 'one rule for them' or simply a quirk of logistics?

First of all congratulations on picking such a phonetically clever username.

Secondly, yeah - never thought of that...'tons of gay couples' provokes a very weird mental image.
