Do you think that they may then be payed pro rata to hours worked ?
Yes I am all for putting them on a 4 day week, along with the associated drop in pay.

After all in the present economic climate, in which most are facing cuts, why should they be should exempt?
But the article explains that this would free up time for them to hold surgeries in their local constituencies.

For those who represent consituemcies far outside London, doesn't spending four days in the capital, and one conduction local business make sense?
mandatory surgeries would be worth trying, but I suppsoe they'd vote against the idea.
If they were to use the Fridays for constituents' business why would you expect them to be said less? Anotheoldgit, would you be happy to see a reduction or a freeze in the State Pension you receive?
There is far more to being an MP than just attending the house of commons.
Constituency work is very important. Most votes in parliament are made without the members actually needing to be there, look up the 'pairing' system
I don't see it will make any diffrence in the end, just look at the debates that you see on TV, often the house is empty just a dozen or so MPs present.
Doesn't really sound like there would be much change from what is already happening. And it isn't really a 4 day week as they woyld work in their constituencies at the weekend.

The article explains that very few attend the Commons on Fridays anyway because they discuss private members bills that are unlikely to happen. They go back to their constituencies. Forcing them to debate the Private members bills earlier in the week would mean that more MPs could participate.
Perhaps if British car workers had been given Friday's off then this phrase would not have been created?

/// "A Friday afternoon car" ///
Monday morning one's were worse aog !
