NO, they are here illegally, they have contributed nothing, if we stopped being so da*m soft on them they might be less keen on sneaking in here!
yet another reason to dump the hra
I go along with the sentiment that we should care for others when in need but when they are taking the proverbial then NO it should not.
Pps AOG that goes for the time wasting inhabitants of this country also.
Surely illegal immigrants can't register with doctors.
we need to be more circumpspect across the board as far as immigration is concerned..legal or otherwise.... I took ill in the US once and could not get over the hossie threshold untill I could produce insurance details !!!!

From the link, "They are not entitled to free NHS care"
what really pis**s me off is all the millions spent on fat bas***rds getting gastric bands
better to cage them up for 6 months on bread and water, they'd looser it ok then a dam sight cheaper
So by my calculation this is:
about 0.04% of the NHS budget
Can't imagine why the Mail didn't put it in perspective
Foreigners receive emergency treatment, contraceptive services and treatment for contageous diseases
What a ridiculous exageration to call that "open house"
Anyone would think you had an "anti-foreinger" agenda that you were shamefully trying to push
No its not a ridiculous exaggeration.
dont know how you made your calcs but mine based on yours means we will waste around £42million on these people that would be better spent on our own citizens.
its not just down to money its also numbers that overwhelm GPs and other nhs resources
my calc uses the NHS own figure of a budget of around £106b for 11/12

It may not be 'open house' in your over liberal thinking mind, but it is a fair description to use, especially when noting the fact that this over tolerant practice could not be found anywhere else in the world.
And before you come out with the usual chestnut, "doesn't that make you feel proud" no it doesn't it only makes me annoyed.

i think if someone is having a heart attack or something they should ofcourse be treated no matter where theyre from... but not general day to day care
we dont get free treatment from other ccountries and have to pay so why shouldnt they pay here...?
Do you not think they should have access to free contraceptive services then, AOG?
Jake -the -Peg.......I too have difficulty in understanding your maths, but that may well be a deficiency on my intellect rather than yours.
You were suggesting on a previous post that we did not know the amount spent on foreigners treatment......well we still don't but we know that £42 million is unpaid.
When one goes to other countries one makes provisions for health care, but seemingly the provisions that i have mentioned are provided for by the tax payers of the UK.
That is pretty generous.......let us hope that they can afford this generosity.

No !

failed asylum seekers (which is whay i take it you mean by "failed illegal immigrants") are NOT entitled to primary care, as stated in the article
No, but your link to the Daily Mail says that these people are not entitled when their application to remain has failed. That's the law and/or the rule to be applied.
It may be that somebody in a PCT does not know this or it may be that the individuals who sought NHS services had not yet had their applications dismissed.
Don't immediately see why someone who is applying to stay should be granted the privilege of NHS services, save in emergencies, pending the resolution of their application.
No. It is a National Health Sevice not a World service and on people in the UK pay in.
I have no problem with treating someone with life saving emergency treatment, even if they cannot pay. But anything any longer than a week and it stops. If they dont have the money to get home give them a cattle class ticket and shove them on a boat.
We would get nothing in their country so why expect it from us.
The NHS is NOT free, we pay well over the top for it.
